Suffice it to say, this short doesn’t have the most novel or clever humor on tap. I didn’t even chuckle here. There’s the mildest of mild observations that a lot of folks find art museums boring, but the short never really builds on that or goes anywhere interesting.
But hey, as usual, we have a few interesting Simpsons firsts! This is the first time Marge is framed as an art lover specifically and an appreciator of the fine arts in general, which will come back on the show. It’s also the first time Bart says “Don’t have a cow” (saying “Dad” instead of “man” but still), so that’s momentous! That’s about the only takeaway from this otherwise tepid outing.
