The best anime of the season, no isekai-vikings, beautifully animated, solid storytelling, character behavior looks realistic, and not exaggerated as in typical anime. The only weak spot so far is OP (which bad only at the start because it doesn't match visuals with warships and stuff).
The sharp turn season 2 takes isn’t for everyone, but I think it enriches and adds to everything before it. I’ve enjoyed it more than the first season, personally, but it’s all amazing. I’m definitely going to read the manga after this season finishes airing.
The story is intriguing and it's well laid out. However, the main character Thorifinn is slowly reduced to an annoying side character with little value, and other characters are of more interest. The ending was really weak, and my rating is between 6 and 7.
"You have no enemies"
Just finished watching Vinland Saga 2 which I have been keeping on hold after watching the first 14 episodes. I decided to binge the next 10 episodes all in one go and I think in my opinion Vinland Saga is not just one of the best Anime to ever exist, but it is one of the best most inspiring fictional stories ever written
I can't express my feelings on how good this season in particular was, so much better than season 1 in my opinion, season 2 had a much clearer and a better direction and they also doubled down on the action. Can totally understand people calling this a farming simulator. But if you guys know me I prefer character development over anything mindless action and killing dudes left and right. Although there is such a good balance between the 2 overall in the series. I feel like season 2 did a much better job at storytelling. The characters are nothing less than memorable. I love the cast, may have cried a couple times for their backstories and an untimely death of one of my favourite characters in shows midway through the season. I easily get emotionally attached to characters, especially female characters I just can't help it, not trynna be a simp or whatever it's just me.
Please watch this show.
Pretty good anime, the animations were also great. The story was nice during the first season but I did find most of the second one a bit boring, maybe due to the lack of action, but it did end up better around the end of the season. Character progression was nice for some of the main characters but was lacking for the side ones and also a lot of characters from the first season were nowhere to be found in the second one. Will see how it progresses but it is worth a watch.
I can understand why people love this anime so much. While there were times where I expected a character to die rather quickly, instead the story allows the character to become more complex. It makes everything much more tense and interesting for when the possibility of death truly does arise.
S3 is coming, so status should not be "Ended".
Season1 was great. Season 2 was a slow watch.. At first but honestly the switch they made to the show strengthened the story. Some people don't like how action packed the first season is and the 2nd season is more plot based. i enjoy the 180. i like the character development of not only Thorfinn but to other characters as well. Great watch. Will recommend.
The show really started going downhill about 2/3rds of the way through S1 and it hasn't picked back up yet.
Really hoping Season 2 finds its feet soon. It is really not living up to the standards set in the first season so far.
There's an old adage that every war movie is anti-war, something that I think is not always true in anime. I think that holds, here, tremendously to its credit.
Overrated TBH, I had high expectations but the plot moves very slowly in midseason (about 8 episodes of nothing), the fights (when happens) are good when the characters have "powers" but with normal people aren't exciting.
Sorry about my english.
I had high hopes for this series, but it was a bit of a let down.
It lacks grounding. The fights aren't really that exciting and rely on certain characters having superpowers that allow them to survive despite their stupidity. In fact, it's almost like they're powered by their stupidity. Like Thorkell, who fights for the sake of fighting and says he likes being on the "losing side" for a challenge.
The philosophy is broken. And the plot moves very, very slowly.
watch it. please. really, you won't regret it. also you're going to cry and make friends with the villains. hate yourself for falling in love with the man you're supposed to hate, and end up crying over them anyway
I started the series because of the good things I heard about the manga source material and Wit Studio's involvement. I didn't care much about vikings and it took me several episodes to warm up to the series. After a while, I realized the story was going somewhere meaningful and started to love the plot and character development. With the market being saturated with shonen like MHA, it's a breath of fresh air to get something new with a complex and unpredictable story. Be warned that you might spoil yourself if you take to Wikipedia and read about some of the historical events the anime is based on. This is an easy recommendation from me and it's probably one of my favourites.
Holy Shit. Finished the first season and I am floored. I can whole heartedly recommend this show.
Looks like the 2nd season is gonna be phenomenal ! I shall patiently wait for it to arrive.
