Student comedy about forced sex change.

@spiritualized-kaos What are you talking about? This was in 1985, there was nothing forced about it and there was no sex changing going on either. There was somewhat of a remake in the 2006 movie She's the Man. Nothing surgical or forced in that one either.
I just don't agree with all these comments about just watching the UK version. The Americanized Office worked, why can't this one? That is all you hear, "don't they ever have any ideas of their own?" There are countless attempts at original shows every year and no one watches them either. Starting a show with a built-in audience just make sense sometimes.
And after just seeing the hour premiere, I do enjoy it just as much as the original. They did change some of the characters and im all for the differences.

@defuria I can agree that the American version doesn't do a good job at making them feel like ghosts. Maybe its too bright? I still enjoy watching after 35 episodes but yeah its not really the same as the original. I wouldn't call the original fresher though. They are written for completely different audiences after all.
This show wouldn't had grabbed the attention it did if it wasn't attached to the Scooby-Doo intelectual property. If you changed the color palette and the design of the character, they would be irreconcilable if you compared them to their classic counterparts. Without that, it would be just another irrelevant & forgettable "adult show" that thinks adding vulgarity and foulness makes it "mature", it actually makes it childish. Also, the characters are not "meta" or "self aware" as the writers think, they are just doing cheap lamp-shading, trying to disguise it's terrible writing. The "humor" is not clever nor has a funny punch line, it's just repetitive pop culture reference and small penis mentions (not even jokes, just mentioning Fred has a small penis) which is disgusting body shaming. And finally, they make Vilma and Shaggy black to use it as an excuse to blame any criticism on racism, that card is getting old REALLY fast. This show doesn't have ANY redeemable qualities, is an insult to the audience's intelligence and the legacy of Scooby-Doo, thank God Scooby-Doo isn't a character on this, they would had also massacred that character too. Don't give this show your attention or even rage watch, bad media dies by been irrelevant and not paying attention to it.

@jaam01 Guess I am going to watch this on as many different screens as I can find then.
This show is not Scooby Doo. It isn’t meant to be. It’s a re-imagination of a few of the characters from the original show. But there’s a reason why the show is called Velma, and not Scooby Doo.
Only two episodes have been released at the time that I write this. I there is absolutely nothing wrong with multiculturalism, as most of our planet is multicultural. You may or may not like the live meta-commentary from the characters. You may or may not like the cursing in this for-adults-only show.
I’m willing to give this show a shot precisely because it’s different from the original. The original characters have been done to death. I like the fact that an intelligent Indian woman is a producer and voice of Velma. And that Daphne is Asian. I think it keeps things interesting while still paying homage to what came before.
None of this means that the show will magically be good or bad, because none of the things I’ve mentioned have a direct influence on what makes the show good or bad. The show may end up being bad by the end of the season. Or it may end up being Pretty good.
The first two episodes were intriguing enough. I’m willing to give it a shot.

@skyzyx I wonder why there are so few of us that have this opinion. I am 4 eps in and are still interested. Its sad that somehow multiculturalism is considered "far left."
80% was decent but they Netflixed it for their Millenial audience and the ending was so aweful that it ruined the whole movie for me. That's why I prefer HBO shows - they are for adults and don't need ridiculous, unrealistic over-acting or over-writing to keep their audience edutained till the end.

@w2m While I get what you're saying... There are 41 year old Millennials.

In the conversation between Queen Alicent and Sir Cristen, its obvious they are both speaking about different aspects of that night. Or were they both talking about Daemon? The way I interpreted it, he was confessing to his transgressions with the Princess. Since he didn't know what went on with Daemon that night, would he have accepted punishment if he knew she wasn't talking about him? And to her, he was just confirming the Princess lied to her.
loading replies
@gloom8 I meant the punishment for breaking his vow of chastity. Because, as he said before, he accepted chastity in exchange for his role as part of the King's Guard and Sworn Protector of the Princess. Its why he killed Rhaenyra's husband's lover, to protect her and their secret.
I disagree with other comments that the pacing of this episode is slow. I didn't notice it any slower than any GOT episode. Every episode doesn't need war or intensity to be satisfying. A good show needs character building to set up further story.

@voshchronos I mean while that is a stereotype of GenZ. There really isn't anything there to tell what age group the commenters are from. But yeah, patience is a great thing to have in life.
So… no intro? I was really looking forward for a new intro.
loading replies
@phfora It might just be where they just wanted to get straight into the pilot. And we will see a new intro in ep 2.
why did conrad die? isnt this a prequel?? he's alive in the sequels..
loading replies
@unambi Who are you thinking Conrad is in the sequels? Because I think you're thinking of someone else.
Why? Just watch the original version, 100% this won't go more than a season
Currently watching season 2 lol it certainly got better than the first episode!

@dougeller I don't think its better, I just think the US versions is tailored to the audience. They both work towards their perspective audiences.

I'm disappointed they got greedy and tried to use two "old world" characters (Viking and Native American), plus it kinda seems they're having to compete for screen time ... and up to now it's just as the butt of jokes.
loading replies
@alexnader Well it was determined in Ep 5 that the Native is from the 1500s. So i guess my point is moot.
i fail to see what the need for this 2021 show was when it was already made in 2019 just english? why does the US always copy shows or movies i dont get it
loading replies
@strawbbi More times than not, its not the US copying a show. The original owners of a show sometimes extend an invitation for other countries to adapt it for their audience. Its a way for the original owners to make more money on their initial story. But its not restricted to just fiction, game shows, reality shows do it as well. In the case of Ghosts, BBC Studios is considered a producer on the American version.

@alexnader We don't know how far back the Native goes yet. He could be from the 1700s which could be the same timeframe as Hetty and Isaac give or take a century. So if the Viking has been in North America for a 1000 years. He would be like Robin from the UK version. So he would be the only "old world" character.
To all the folks saying it's a crappy copy of the original, just remember that The Office was too and was far better than the original. I like the BBC version of Ghosts, it's cute, but drones a bit, I'll watch this one and see how it goes. What I'm more concerned with, given the network it's airing on, is how woke it's going to be since they can't seem to not put extremist woke BS in every one of their shows.
Update 10/29/2021: I like this show so far! It does justice to the original and is just entertaining, the way TV should be.

@tvwatcherdenver I totally respect your opinion, but not everything has to be looked at through a political lens.

@player8472 That is true Shameless is another one that had a hit American version. I wasn't fond of the UK version at all.
Really hope they add this to HBO Max!

And they did add it! Nice!
Here's hoping it won't take a year to get Season 3 on Netflix..

@matts I was close... Took 7 months.
Well it was great to see these 2 together again. I was so sad when the show was over... It has so many in it. Hope they will continue it after this movie! :)

@maraxush They talked about doing a movie right before or during the last season, i dont remember which.. Doubt whether this will mean its coming back.
World Premiere Review: 11/14/16
Frozen: Tropical Edition. But, that's not a bad thing. It's a really good movie with amazing animation, charming story and excellent songs (if you're into that). It's by no means flawless. Repetitiveness is the main issue, especially with certain physical humor which is done to death, particularly the wonky eyed chicken. I won't spoil what it does, but I found myself going "AGAIN?! COMON." Adults will find it charming and kids will think it's hilarious.
loading replies
@dannyland Well to be fair, the chicken is dumb, its not going to just stop being dumb half way through. Look at Family Guy and how long its been going by making their gags last a little too long, on purpose. Repetition can be funny in its own way.
movie is cute and has a great message in the ending scene.
plus apparently in that world, everybody ia dedicated Christian or guru abstainer. because the grown-ups there abstain from sexual intercourse and let birds deliver their babies.
I mean the medical industry would be dying there

@ninegate67 Umm, some of them may have abstained but..... The storks said they stopped because there are a lot of other ways to get a baby, think about what those other ways could be......
Ep11-20 should be Season 2. Netflix shows it as season 2.
loading replies
@willberry88 It wouldn't let me reply to you on your other comment so I'm saying it here.... Them having a part 2 is no different then what regular tv channels are doing nowadays. The traditional season premiere is now a fall premiere and then they have a spring premiere. They are just splitting up a season into two parts just like they did with The Ranch. Only The Ranch did it the opposite way by having a Spring premiere first and then putting part 2 out in the fall. I highly doubt they will be calling the next batch of episodes part 3. And at least on my screen they do not have it as Season two, it has groups, Part 1 and Part 2.
As far as there being 20 episodes in one season, that is out of character for Netflix but I encourage it wholeheartedly. Never really liked the short seasons that pay channels like HBO and Netflix have always done, because they put out 10 episodes and you then have to wait an entire year for another 10 or 12 episodes to come out. Where this way we get 10 episodes in the spring and then another 10 episodes in the fall without having to wait for spring again.
the numbers of the episodes are in confusion. which right In new season? 2x1 or 1x11 ?
loading replies
@m2ramos They are making season 2 right now. All they did was split the 1st season in to two parts. 1x11 is the first episode of Part 2.
Yea the worst Die Hard by far.
Having nothing to do with previous movies, pretty much makes it suck that much more.

Umm, what did Die Hard 2 have to do with the first one? The only two that had anything to do with each other is #1 and #3.
