Something of a comedy - Gemma's character does hang out with a mermaid. He is a trickster, and is constantly finding him in trouble, mostly because of his own doing. The most serious part of the film is in the beginning, where he comes across a stagecoach and buries the dead robbery victims. So he does have a heart, in spite of what he does for the rest of the movie.
