Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy is a rather rote and lackluster comedy and marks the end of the duo’s adventures with monsters. While visiting Egypt, Abbott and Costello are abducted by a gang of criminals looking for the treasures of Princess Ara; who’s tomb is guarded by the mummy Klaris. The plot doesn’t make a lot of sense; especially as a Mummy movie, considering that all the character names and most of the lore has been changed. And the mummy costume is just awful, looking like a tattered jumpsuit. Still, Abbott and Costello deliver some really funny skits, and there are a couple of entertaining song and dance numbers. It delivers a few laughs, but Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy is a slapdash film that’s not as fresh or creative as their other crossovers.
