Needed more scenes between Alex and Elliot. Elliot was so charming!
It was very good and I enjoyed it, but disappointed by the ending. I understand that homosexual men is still a very under represented in media. I can’t complain about the plot because these are our stories, our truth, but I wished for a bisexual ending or even a pansexual ending, it could have been really wild and been a asexual ending. But nope, plain gay. It was better then a lot of gay movies in recent years, with the exception of Moonlight and Love, Simon which were masterpieces, but I just wanted better.
it started out ok. it got a little cheesy, tried to hard to be funny at times. unneccessary transphobia and bully scene towards the end. the actual ending was predictable and like i felt it tried too hard to make me feel something. really stretching out that kiss just plain looked awkward too. also no ofends but eliot was ugly! if you're gonna realise you're gay at least go for a halfway decent looking guy
I loved everything about this movie. Two thumbs up!
I don't know how i feel about this movie... Tbh Alex was a total jerk at some moments.
I wished the story would have been about him discovering his bisexuality instead. Some parts seems to hint at that but then no? I think there's some inconsistance in the story-line about that
I totally wonder if this was written by someone straight because that whole thing about "why don't just come out? my cousin of 16 has come out" and other lines from that type are just... so straight. They really seems to think lgbt people not coming out is a matter of will...
But generally it's a cute movie as long as you can handle the awkwardness of the main character
Also the guy playing Elliot plays in The Gay and Wondrous life of Caleb Gallo, a queer serie on youtube that i totally recommend!
An adorable little movie. I genuinely liked it.
Charming movie but felt the ending was a little rushed. Would of loved to have seen the characters a little more developed and more of Elliot. But it's still a fun little movie that I thoroughly enjoyed.
though some of the acting was a bit awkward at times, on the whole, this movie was really cute (albeit predictable). i do wish that we could've seen more of alex's past- all we could really discern from the short flashback is that he was bullied as a kid for being gay, and that maybe he was adopted? or perhaps that was a summer camp. who knows. i would like to know. which is why i'm complaining. anyway, sweet movie! lovable characters! gay! would watch again if i want to both laugh and cry within an hour and a half. you really can have it all (oh, and the moonlight poster hanging in elliot's room was a nice touch. well done set designers)
There are better coming out stories out there, but this was still an acceptable film, despite the odd cliche.
I cannot unsee that Madeline resembles Gal Gadot a LOT in this movie, with that hairstyles.
I do not know why it has taken me so long to finally watch this movie. Quite cute. I had not expected it. The story is obviously cheesy and predictable but still kind of wholesome.
Very basic and bland tweens series ` about how a guy with a girlfriend realizes he's always been gay. Nothing recommendable is a story that does not contribute anything.
this definitely feels like a movie by straight people trying to profit of a community they're not a part of (and even making a mess along the way) for straight people. there's biphobia, transphobia, acephobia, walking stereotypes, a scene that pictures being a lesbian as being a choice, etc etc. cmon. a gay movie where 95% of the movie is hetero?
the only gay thing we see is two kisses, meanwhile the rest of the movie is hetero. we got full het sex scenes that made me want to hide in a corner in awkwardness and cringeness. they were so long it made me uncomfortable. you know, cause all lgbtqia+ ppl want is to see heterosexual /attempts/ of sex. [/spoilers] it definitely feels like the movie was trying to apeal to straights, being 'gay' without actually having to be 'gay'. just straight with a pinch of gay in the middle and end.
the story was generic, didn't make sense in some parts, had some holes, the ending was predictable, entire characters didn't make sense.... urgh. you can predict what's gonna happen in the entire movie from the first minutes. except for Alex's sexuality, you really think he is gonna figure he is bi, the whole movie points towards bi, and then boom. gay. it goes against what the movie hinted till then. i know comphet exists, but what Alex felt for is girlfriend didn't feel like comphet cause he genuinely seemed to love her. he genuinely seemed to be into girls too. therefore: bi. but no, gay.
would not watch again and would not recommend to anyone. it really looks like it was written by straight people. and if it wasn't, well, it's not a good representation because it's filled with dumb takes. 'why don't you just come out?' 'i hate men. maybe i'll become a lesbian.' 'you haven't had sex yet??? you're not a man. your dick just fell.' and a lot more. i could keep writting all the dumb takes in this movie but it would take to long so i'll leave it at that.
I like it better than Love Victor.
very good but with some write errors.
I really liked the movie, there is romance and comedy in a perfect balance. My little disappointment was with the final development of Alex,
where he assumes that is gay. An ending where he assumes as a bisexual and into a poly-love relationship[/spoilers] might fit into the modernity and changes in the world that is quoted in an scene from the film. Anyway, the film remains great and is important to LBGTQ+ Community and helps with representativeness within the industry .

this is not a good movie. it definietely feels like something that was written by straight people
