I understand what they were trying to do but this was lacking so much smh
Wait, what? Is this an "Antebellum" prequel?
Alice isn't a bad film but with a short running time, it didn't give us enough time to enjoy our heroine's stand against the creeps who enslaved her.
The first 40 minutes I thought I was watching ‘Antebellum’ with a different name. The pace was higher though and indeed this is a different movie.
Not a new concept, but pretty entertaining.

One of the worst directed films of recent years, clumsy in the exposure of racism, absurd in the development of the characters. The idea is interesting as a representation of slavery that remains decades after the Emancipation Proclamation of 1863, a kind of "Antebellum" that becomes a blaxploitation film because the director feels like it. But not even in the homage does she have the courage to be provocative.
