I'm not sure how I kind of liked a movie that I couldn't actually see. This thing is dark and by that I mean having an absence of light. It was really difficult to see the fight scenes and there were a lot of them. The actors were all beautiful, supposed-to-be teens and I didn't care about any of them.
So why did I think this was borderline good? I've always been a sucker for something crash landing and then raising Hell. And this movie took it one step further by adding something else landing to stop the thing raising Hell and then raising its own Hell while doing so. I know that's a little odd but it's the only explanation I've got.
Great, if our eyes had built in night vision.
A couple of good ideas (one is awesome, but I won’t do any spoilers) but way too “dark” and confused in some others. Cast is OK, plot’s not a gem but the movie run enough smoothly.
Title: Extraterrestrial Encounter: A Review of "Aliens vs Predator: Requiem" (2007)
Essential, Hook, and Thesis:
In a cinematic universe known for its thrilling battles and iconic monsters, "Aliens vs Predator: Requiem" (2007) gives fans exactly what they want: a brutal, no-holds-barred clash between two of sci-fi's most terrifying creatures. Despite criticism for its dark visual style and thin plot, the film offers visceral action sequences and impressive creature effects that are sure to satisfy fans of the franchise.
Basic Plot Summary:
"Aliens vs Predator: Requiem" picks up where its predecessor left off, with a Predator-Alien hybrid causing havoc on a Predator spaceship, leading to a crash in a small Colorado town. The film focuses on the ensuing chaos as the town's residents, along with a lone Predator, struggle to survive against the rampaging hybrid and its alien offspring.
Praise and Critique:
The standout feature of the film is its action sequences. The battles between the Predator and the Alien creatures are intense and well-executed, providing the thrilling spectacle fans anticipate from the franchise.
The creature effects are commendable. The design of the Predator-Alien hybrid is genuinely terrifying, presenting a formidable antagonist that elevates the film's sense of threat.
However, "Aliens vs Predator: Requiem" does falter in its narrative and character development. The human characters are thinly sketched, with not enough depth to make the audience genuinely invested in their survival. The plot is also straightforward, lacking the complexity or suspenseful buildup that characterized the earlier installments in the Alien and Predator franchises.
Criticism, Evaluation, and Comparison:
The film has been criticized for its excessively dark visuals, which sometimes obscure the action sequences. While this style may add to the movie's overall eerie ambiance, it also occasionally undermines the viewing experience.
When compared to its predecessor, "Alien vs Predator," the sequel amps up the action and brutality but falls short in terms of storytelling and suspense. In the broader context of the individual Alien and Predator franchises, "Aliens vs Predator: Requiem" is less a continuation of their legacy and more a creature-feature showdown aimed squarely at action-loving fans.
The Actors:
The cast, including Steven Pasquale and Reiko Aylesworth, deliver competent performances, considering the film's action-oriented focus. They convincingly portray the panic and terror of a town under alien siege, even if their characters lack depth.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, "Aliens vs Predator: Requiem" offers a thrilling, if somewhat shallow, experience for fans of sci-fi action. It excels in delivering impressive creature designs and exciting combat scenes, providing a cinematic spectacle that fans of the franchise will appreciate. While it may not be remembered for its plot or character development, the film serves up an entertaining clash of sci-fi titans that delivers on the promise of its title. For viewers seeking action-packed, extraterrestrial carnage, "Aliens vs Predator: Requiem" is a wild ride worth taking.
Not the worst film I've seen. It's your average formula action film with Alien and Predator decoration. Stunned as to how they managed to make SO many Xenomorphs with no Queen but needs must.
Arriving at the deserted hospital gave me Resident Evil vibes so nice to see they followed up on that by bombing the town Raccoon City style! The moral of the story is listen to the person who just arrived back from serving in the army yeah?
Probably a fun movie… too bad you can’t see any of it.
Let's just pretend this movie does not exist.. well, you can't see shit when you try to watch it anyway -I had to increase the brightness of my laptop to see but even that didn't help me. Every character is so cringy and that boring teen drama filler was so unnecessary. Just skip this one and move on to Predators movie.
I always found it too darkly filmed to even keep up with the action. So I never really got into it.
I watched it at the Cinema. But i had my weirdest experience here.
So there is this one scene that just cracked me up. So cheap and so dumb that i laughed my ass of. The Scene where the Child is attacked by a facehugger
The only problem was: The scence was intended to be intense and serious. And it was. But I couldn't take it serious.
So: Expect me no one was laughing - at all. Also my friends looked at me and just thought: "Dude, really, this is not cool".
So the movie was lost for me after that scence.
If you want to have fun, grap one or two sixpacks and watch it.
If you don't drink, then you will have quite a boring time.
AVP Requiem the dreaded Sequel for most sci-fi movie lovers,
This movie hit the theaters in 2007, and was produced bij John Davis, as a succesor to Paul W Anderson "AVP" movie of 2003.
for me personally it didn't live up tot the expectation, while the creatures and the effects where there, the story realy didn't work. to make matters worse the creators tried to introduce some lore in the ending of the movie "Yutani gets a Gun", I wish more effort would have been spent on creating a better story, The Characters where not that well fleshed out as in the predator and alien franchisches,
While AVP itself atleast had some greater moments going for itself in Visuals and some story and lore, the franchische never became what i hoped for. I think "Freddy V.S. Jason" was a way better mash up of 2 favorite cult icons battling it out with each other.
The Predator in AVP had Interaction with the humans, whils in "AVP requiem", did reduce these fellas to stereotype High tech Hunters.
I glad the respective studios whent their seperate ways with this. Predators was a great improvement over this film. Don't get me wrong i think AVP still has potential, But i think the stories and setup of the overal movies would have been helped, if the writters would have taken more time fleshing out a better story.
The movie isn't bad but good luck if you can see anything properly.
Absolutely brutal carnage and nothing else.
5/10
WTF IS UP WITH THE WHOLE MOVIE IN DARK I COULDNT SEE SHIT OMG
turn up your brightness. half decent movie though
There's a scene where the child looks through a nightvision. The mom enters the room and turns on the light, but still the room is totally dark.
That's the movie in a nutshell. I guess the movie was cool in the cinema, if they handed out nightvisions to even see anything.
Makes the previous movie look like a masterpiece. God the lighting in this movie is the worst I have ever seen and if you can't see the action in an action film and you can't see the monsters and deaths in a horror film, it's a death knell for any hope of quality. Combine that with thin human character and laughable attempts to be as dark as the lighting, and there's really nothing here for anybody. Alien fans will see the xenomorphs be cannon fodder and the horror you can see subpar, and Predator fans can't see the action, have no entertaining human characters to watch, and the classic hunt and growing respect dynamic between human and Predator wholly absent. It wasn't lying- no matter who won, we all lost.
After such a strong first entry (imo) to the AVP franchise, my expectations were quite high for this one. Admittedly, the bar was nowhere near met. It was :asterisk_symbol:fine:asterisk_symbol:. I think many people will enjoy it if they are a fan, but it doesn’t offer much as a standalone film or offer anything to a new audience.
Rating: 2/5 - 6.5/10 - Not Recommended to Everyone

There, I said it.
You CAN'T realize a movie with Predators, Xenomorphs and a xeno-predator where or the camera is too confused and shaky just to replicate Michael Bay style and his horrible idea of direction, or with scenes so dark you can't see ANYTHING. No. It's totally wrong. This could have been a decent movie, even with the unnecessary teen part, but looking at a black screen for half of the movie reduced my rating to a 4, and I've been generous.
Too many dark scenes, too much unnecessary drama. I could have enjoyed it more if I had seen what was happening. :)
The ultimate matchup continues in AVPR: Aliens vs. Predator - Requiem. Picking up where the last film left off, the Predator ship crash-lands on Earth releasing a host of Aliens and a PredAlien hybrid. The story is innovative, but the execution is atrocious. Reacting to the fan backlash over the first AVP’s PG-13 rating, Requiem goes for the hard R and gets overly gruesome and bloody. Additionally, the acting is horrendously bad; almost unbearably so. However, the Predator action is fairly good, but that’s about all the film has going for it. AVPR: Alien vs. Predator - Requiem is a dark, ugly film that’s nothing but gratuitous violence.
I get the feeling that whoever wrote this trashfire screenplay was bullied a lot in high school and this is their petty revenge. Too bad they resort to homophobia to get their digs in. Lots of bootlicking, shitty dialog, and an uninspired plot make for a worthless entry into the franchise.
Difficult to follow what's going on because it's so dark. Honestly, it's probably less dark inside a black hole.
In an Alien vs Predator movie all I want is just a ton of action. No human characters and their story, just a bunch of aliens fighting but we didn't get that. I hated every character in this and the action wasn't even that good. Plus it was so dark it was hard to see everything.
Absolute bullshit in my opinion! Did the involved persons even watch the original Alien and Predator movies? I mean, come on, how the fuck should a single Predator, even if it is a Cleanser, stand against dozens of Aliens? And the Alien-Predator-Hybrid is as uninspired as it can be, most of the time you cannot even distinguish it from normal Aliens. On top of that they put implausible characters and laughable dialogs into the mix, while all the thrill, mystery and horror of the original Predator and Alien movies is missing. Because of all that, I strongly suggest to skip this sh.. and spend your time doing something else (e.g. watching the first 3 Alien movies, Predator, Predators or even the first AVP). Almost anything is better the watching Aliens vs. Predator 2 (a.k.a Aliens VS Predator requiem)!
I dunno, I like it despite the lame puberty dilema sub plot they decided to throw in as filler.

This sequel sucked blah blah they shoulda done this wah wah hahaha same whiney lil childrens who hated on Colonial Marines...I question your love of the Alien and Predator Universe or scifi movies in general... Maybe you're just dead inside and there just isn't a way to make you happy unless something is flawless...even when they got it right like Prometheus...still wasn't good enough... You're the person who opens a new Samsung Galaxy for Christmas and crys it's not an eye phone..this is why you're mother hates you
