Alive 1993

Powerful film and story with a fine cast, enjoyed every second of it. It’s funny how the cast were changing how many they were in each scene to the point it looked like there was more at the end than at the beginning ha

The power of this movie when it first came out was not lost on 12-year old me, and this film has stuck with me through the years. The carnal ferocity they fought for life was depicted really well in this film, and the I just saw the new film based on the story (https://trakt.tv/movies/society-of-the-snow-2023), and this film does a much better job of reflecting how harsh things were.

Is not better than the book, but it's a close interpretation of the real story. I'm a former rugby player and this is a shocking story for me. You should see this movie!

It's a good film, based on a true story - which always increases the watchability of a film anyway. Although they're stuck in the same place with no new characters for the majority of the film, and the film is LONG, it's not hard to watch. The only criticism I have is cgi isn't amazing (which is okay for 1993 but just look at Titanic less than five years later in 1997) and the ending is abrupt. There's a beginning, a middle and then all of a sudden, it's the end. I won't give any spoilers but you really want to see what happens at the end. Instead, they just kinda talk about it and then they skip to where it happens. The ending should be the most euphoric part but to me it was probably the beginning. Still, it's an instant classic so worth the watch.

It's a nice Sunday afternoon TV movie (I know it got a theatrical release). Very much of its time. The melodramatic score is typical of the 90s .
The prolog and epilogue with a famous actor that isn't even in the movie, in a dark room talking to the camera is just a bizarre choice.

A great movie based on a true story of survival. What this team of people had to resort to doing in order to survive is unthinkable and taboo. i had the pleasure of listening to a lecture from 2 of the survivors of this crash. An experience as a listener i will never forget. This film burdens you with a deep question..... would you?
