The first Divergent movie is so good, the second one is....okay, but this one here is very...... i don't know how to put in words.........boring, the best part of the movie is when it ends.
Each movie of this saga is getting worse... This was the worst so far. The first one made me really anxious about the second one and the second not at a same level but also anxious. This third was just so much unnecessessary information in a big gap of time. Lets just hope something changes and the probably last movie of the saga is better
8.5/10 - This is my favorite one of the three movies. Usually I like the first movie / origin story the most but this movie brings a big change to the story/world. Story-weise I still like the first movie the most but this one shifts the setting to post-cyberpunk and introduces a lot of interesting concepts to think about and also shows lots of cool Sci-Fi technology.
The post-atomic-war setting with the few human oases is nice to begin with. Then there's cool technology like the plasma globes, personal recon/guardian drones, transport drones/ships, cloaking technology, etc. Then there's the surveillance technology which brings up interesting ethical questions (as does the whole human experiment of course). Genetic modification is also an interesting Cyberpunk topic that I like and that raises a lot of important ethical questions. It's also something that's quite relevant as I believe that we're pretty close to making this a reality (maybe 25-100 years? AFAIK we're already quite far with cloning and IIRC there was already a human experiment in China to genetically modify the eye color of a baby).
Also: Unsurprisingly Peter turned again and unfortunately he still doesn't quite get what he deserves (but that'll likely change). I'd really like to see how this story ends. It sucks that the forth movie was cancelled...
terrible, terrible, and awkward. ever see a movie so awful that you feel bad for the actors?
Oh my god, the plot has become so ridiculous and extra, I just can’t take it seriously anymore. This whole saga has lost all of its charm and charisma. I would be pissed about the franchise being left on such a cliff-hanger, but maybe it was time for it to die. The creators clearly lost their way.
The characterization here is also just horrible. Take our main character for example: I loved Tris in the first movie, she was okay in the second, but here she suddenly becomes completely annoying, painfully bland and pretty much braindead… She honestly felt more like a robot to me than the smart and kind badass we all got to know and love. I also became so frustrated at the way she betrayed and dismissed Four: it was all so out of character.
Speaking of Four, he truly had to carry this entire movie on his back. His brooding hotness was the only good thing left about this whole mess.
When you don't compare it to the book all the time, it's not that bad.
The title is just Allegiant now. 2017's production will be called Ascendant
It is a little frustrating that Hollywood has again turned the last book of the series into two parts. However, this is very entertaining, decent action, good special effects, and a silly but engaging plot line. I know many won't agree, and the critics have been particularly harsh, but this is not as terrible as people have made it out to be. Science fiction is a license for writers to create new and visionary worlds so it is unfair that people are being negative over the story. It's not realistic and it was never meant to be. It's a fantasy and a very enjoyable one.
Allegiant as a stand-alone sci-fi might have worked, as a part of a series...not so much. Widely different than the book, sub-par actor performances, and a script with so many cheesy lines it smells like your old grand aunt after breakfast...
Allegiant plain sucks...
I know I should tell you everything that bothered me with this movie, but that would take up my whole evening. This one is actually a two-parter, so you'll probably see me talk about how the second one really butchered the second part of the book. It can't be much worse than this...
On a positive note...Shailene Woodley does a good job and seems to be maturing as an actress. I hope she won't be stuck in these kinds of movies.
If you're not heavily invested in this series, I would skip Allegiant and use the time for something more stimulating...like cleaning your car.
This one deserves a 2, but get's 3 because of Shailene Woodley.
this is the worst film ever made
Tris and her friends are still trying to find out everything that is happening to them and their existence. They finally cross the border and find out things are way worse then they first expected. Once they thought they found their allegiance behind the wall, they soon get disappointed again and now they are the only ones able to seal their faiths.
I am very confused right now. I read the books before this movie series started and I was pretty happy with the first one, but now the second and third are both pretty disappointing. I really enjoyed reading the books and I was so excited for the movies, but this is just not it. Literally. I thought I was pretty sure about everything that was going to happen, but after this one, I’m not anymore.
1/4th into the movie I decided it wasn’t a good idea to expect the book story, so I sort of changed the way I was watching the movie (sound pretty weird, I know, but it worked) and I decided that it actually was an okay movie. The storyline is still enjoyable and although there were few gaps and things that didn’t really made a lot of sense it was a fun watch.
Tris is still not one of my favorite characters, but I really (and I mean really) love Four. And Theo James. But especially Four. I felt like there weren’t a lot of characters who had a big part in this movie. They all had a kind of equal camera time. Of course Tris and Four were in the picture a lot but next to them only David (Jeff Daniels) had a lot of camera time. I liked the comeback Caleb (Ansel Elgort) made and I’m very proud of him for it. I really liked the way Matthew (Bill Skarsgard) and Nita (Nadia Hilker) turned out. The visuals of the worlds the created were very pretty, they did a great job. I also really enjoyed the technology they introduced behind the wall and how everything worked there. It was very interesting to actually see the difference between inside, and behind the wall.
For the ones who read the books, this movie will probably be a disappointment. But if you haven’t read them or if you can accept the story change this is an okay movie.
Critics have panned this, but I thought it was actually quite good. Shailene Woodley continued to be great as Tris and although the other characters appeared to have little to do, the plot moved along well and ended with a great premise for the final movie. Sure the series has not been as strong as the Hunger Games, but then the original story wasn't and it doesn't include Jennifer Lawrence
Uriah wasn't really in the rest of the movies. He was a pretty important character in the books. #ShiftvW8
Can't say it was as good as the first two, but I still liked it. Maybe it didn't seem as bad to me since I didn't read the books and had no preconceived notions of what too expect.... My daughter read the books and said they missed some important content that may have improved the movies ratings.
The same stupidity in the plot of this part, just like the previous two parts
The Divergent series is brought to a close with the suspenseful sci-fi thriller Allegiant. As Chicago breaks down into mob rule, Tris and Four escape to the wasteland outside of the city and find a hi-tech community that’s trying to rebuild society; but Four soon uncovers a dark side to what they’re doing. Jeff Daniels joins the cast and delivers an incredibly strong performance. And the special effects are extraordinarily good, creating some really inventive future tech. However, the plot is rather thin and kind of skims over a number of the events from the book. Also, most of the characters are underdeveloped. Still, while it comes off as a bit rushed and formulaic, Allegiant is entertaining and action-packed.
I like divergent series especially the first one but Killing tori of very early in the film there was no need for it weak death and they didn’t really have the depth to the characters to care to much which is sad.
I'd recommend you to watch that movie for understanding how it could be the best part of a movie is its credits.
Am I the only one rooting for Miles Teller’s character throughout the Divergent series? I think he really brought that character to life. :ok_hand_tone3:
It seems this is a 3 part trilogy;
Divergent (2014)
Insurgent (2015)
Allegiant (2016)
Allegiant is unoriginal, bland, dull and a complete embarrassment to the source material that it's based on. I can't wait for these teens novel adaptations to go extinct.
Poop. Truly a bad movie.
So much untapped potential, just like the previous two films.
'Allegiant' is a frustrating watch. I mentioned in my review for 'Insurgent' that I liked the way that ended and hoped they'd build on it here. For the vast majority, they unfortunately don't. They do expand the world slightly which is a positive, but not nowhere near to close enough; it's basically just a stone's throw down the road.
The cast are all fine, Shailene Woodley (Tris) remains the best of the bunch but no-one gives an exceptional performance sadly. Jeff Daniels is a promising addition, though he doesn't even begin to set the world alight in terms of conviction; a very one-dimensional character.
No surprise to see a fourth film cancelled. Even though I don't actually mind these films in the grand scheme of things, they are certainly a disappointment as it's a helluva missed opportunity to create an outstanding franchise.
As this franchise progressed, the quality dropped. This one was not as good as the second one and even that was a let down.
There were many point where I was confused as to what was going on, a lot of questions went unanswered, but I imagine the book was clearer.
Ended on a cliffhanger I think, again, it's so bad that I really am not sure whether it was a cliffhanger or not.
Wouldn't really recommend unless you wanted closure for the series.

So terrible for me that I stopped to watching it. Bad actors, cheap pictures and screenacting. Hell no!
A bunch of SJW bullshit propaganda and preaching. Not that I had very high expectations after the previous movie.
Offenes Ende, Futuristische Möchtegern Mad Max Kulisse, langweilige Story. Ich habe nur bis zum Schluss durchgehalten weil ich auf Szenen mit Miles Teller gewartet habe.
Ok. Nothing really exciting, but not boring either.
Reading other comments I found out this is the third movie of series? No wonder I had questions :D
Really enjoyed the Special Effects. Really liked the future Technology show off. So for SiFi fans its worth a try. But don't expect to much. Acting is not so good, not blaming the actors there was no room for acting the pace of the storytelling was to fast. You feel like rushing through the movie and just watching the CGI effects :). Gave it a 6 for the CGI and the good Ideas of future technology...
Just having read the book when the movie got its theatrical release, all I was thinking is; "omg, it's so different from the book, so different from the book."
But it was an okay watch.
Imagine the book... imagine the complete opposite.
Either the past movies failed at realizing what this series is about or I totally didn't get them. To me, this was at a whole other level. I am actually looking forward to the next installment.
Well i liked it and that was because it was the first film of the series that i actually understood what the hell was going on. Not complicated and enjoyable.
id give this a miss and just watch the first two, if they release another id make it more like the 1st ones!! sorry just didnt wash with me
I love this movie yeah
#ShiftvW8
Shiftv....getting a little annoyed with not being able to stream favorite movies.....UM
#ShiftvW8
oh come on..it has been about 3 months and still no streaming for this movie????? #ShiftvW8
insanely boring, but at the end it's exciting and you kinda see the purpose of the boring rest of the movie. hope the last movie is way better than the rest!
Good movie, wonder how it all will End!
Well I was aware that I didn't liked this book that much and I started to heard the critic's opinions and other things about the movie. How right they were. The movie is supossed to be an "ADAPTATION" of a book, but even though the book is not good the movie does not improve the original material. It made it worse. There's no character growth at all and the plot is very rushed. And that thing of spliting the ending in two parts is a terrible idea that the studios haven't understood yet.
The special effects weren't as polished as the previous movies, the acting was stiff, and the movie as a whole wasn't engaging. Surprising since the first two movies were pretty decent.
Not bad, but I not what are doing or where they go
Why did I got dragged into this mess. The first and second Divergent movie are actually quite good, but this is just plain garbage compared to those first two. If you're gonna do Si-Fi, you got to do it good. And also you need to have the visuals to back it up.

Maybe I just haven't been perceptive enough or maybe they did a terrible job of marketing but I was under the impression that this was the final movie in the series. I based this idea off the fact that the final book is called "Allegiant" and they didn't put "part 1" or anything in the movie's name. I walked out of this movie feeling completely underwhelmed. The movie ended with zero closure and it answered no questions the viewer may have. The entire movie seemed like an awful setup movie for a movie that I didn't know existed. It took several google searches for me to even find that there is a movie following this one. Overall I thought it was a pretty weak attempt at the book series. Even when I try to keep this review based on the movie as it's own separate entity I can't say it was a very enjoyable. There were a couple neat little things like the small drones but other than that the special effects sucked and the movie was boring. I hope the next film can recover for me a bit of the (granted, little) respect I had for this series. I don't usually walk into these movies expecting much, I just go to be entertained and try not to over analyze but I really didn't enjoy this movie.
