One of the greatest satirical dark comedies of all times. A true masterpiece.
This was the first movie that made me think about film as an art on its own, rather than just another medium of storytelling (that can be duplicated in books, paintings, etc). I know that must seem really ridiculous, but I hadn't been exposed to many dramatic films in my life until this one. American Beauty was the first time I had ever been asked to contemplate what beauty meant, as opposed to what was merely beautiful, and to confront my deeply buried fear (shared by the protagonist and other characters) of dying and being remembered only for being ordinary.
had its moments but not my kind of movie.
nicely made and good acting though but as I said didn`t reached me
I don't know what to say about this movie. There are lots of words to describe it.
The movie about a middle-age guy together with almost perfect wife, a daughter and just ordinary everyday life. The core of this movie is while he met the middle-age crisis and got ignored by everybody around him that bring to tragedy story that effect to all the people around him.
I saw this movie when I was young that seeing this movie like got something hit on my head. I had never have family problem, my father have never be unfaithful to my mom. This is like to explode me to the new world. I would like to say sorry to who miss this movie. This is the most beautiful movie I have ever seen.
You could think it's another typical American movie, but it makes you think a lot about modern society, and how money, physical appearance, lust, among other things ruin people's lives, and we don't see the true beauty of life. Spacey's performance is one of the best I've seen in my life.
