I have no idea what the previous comments are about. It's one of the best movies of its kind, according to me. Not perfect of course, but still really great overall.
Started of promising, but fell back quickly to a generic movie. Gets more boring as it reaches the end. Disappointed.

About 8 minutes of alien stuff, the rest is dull teenage semi-drama .
for some reason this was also released in 3D
Overall you can describe this as a nice try maybe? I mean it has nice cgi and overall a ok story. Those love story things inbetween.. matter of taste. At the end i cannot rate more than a weak 4 on this. Keep trying with a story based on this!
The movie turns out to be worth seeing, even if it doesn't follow up on the brilliant start of the CGI until a few more scenes. It's not just some silly teenage story, but conveys a deeper message about how we treat our planet °!°
But what makes me very angry though is due fact how we human approach alien life with a consequent defensiveness !!
Furthermore, the extremely aggressive violence of the Russians in general and in particular has driven me into hatred !!
They have once again shown their bitter dark image of the people !!! °!°
It could have been better! The concept was good, but poorly developed...
An alien ship of humanoids and the same galaxy - Geminis, specifically - crash lands in a residential neighborhood in Moscow. From then on, everything that happens is very Kafkaesque because of the inherent bullshit of the male human species.
"Excuse him, it's just that he is from Saint Petersburg". I laughed to think even Russians joke about "people from the North" ( they are always the weird ones).
Some awesome special effects at the start - like Michael Bay on a good day (does he still have those?). And a reasonable story after that. I think mine suffered from some fairly poor English dubbing (but the subbing was even worse).
The thing that makes this movie suffer is it is part big bang sci-fi and part human drama dealing with "others" when you find that they aren't that different, so doesn't fit well into Western genres, which may be awkward audience placement.
But I enjoyed it. It's not the greatest ever, but one of the few Russian movies I have seen, and definitely worth a look.
The official English subtitles for this movie were absolutely awful!
