Once again an investigation that feels smaller and more contained in scope, which is a nice change.
The series is slowly and smoothly allowing the next generation to take over and it's about time.
There is an overwhelming focus on internal conflicts and past mistakes, which turn out to of prominent importance in the new investigation. We finally get closure to some plot strands that have been running for a few films.
The Bad:
The investigation itself seems slightly unfocused and barely moves forward. The focus on the characters' personal matters and careers is so huge that the investigation suffers as a result.
The Ugly:
The neighbour receives the biggest character development ever.
VERDICT:
The Beck train continues its travels across familiar territory trying desperately to come up with something new to say.
