Five minutes in and I was already acutely aware of how this would be a trying watch filled with irritating stereotypes and movie clichés, which I had honestly expected, and every second only seemed to prove me right. However, whilst bracing myself for the probably painstaking watch ahead, I realised that the main characters might as well be Sam and Dean Winchester. The likeness really would be disconcerting if I hadn't already begun to view it as fanfiction.
As soon as I started watching it with this perspective (the fact that who I had pegged as Dean was called 'Dane' only solidified the thought), well, suddenly it actually became good. And I then thoroughly enjoyed it. Even if I know deep down that it wasn't all that great.

It started off kinda crap with the 'bad kids go to camp for getting in trouble at home' and the dad thought the bad thing they did was cool but mean ol'mum says they have to go to camp. Because you can't have a movie without a naggy mum and a 'i'm a totally cool dad' dad.
But then at 8 minutes and 22 seconds I had an epiphany. This entire movie is really just a Supernatural fanfiction. And it got so much better after that realization, because no one expects anything ground breaking or particularly PC from Supernatural; and this movie had neither of those and with the whole Dane/Dean thing it was really easy to get suckered into it as a fanfic.
So in conclusion as a movie, kinda cruddy. But as a fanfic? Bloody fantastic.
