Children of the Corn: Runaway once again tries to reboot the series, and does a rather poor job of it. The story follows a woman who was part of the original Gatlin corn cult who worshiped He Who Walks Behind the Rows but burned the fields and ran away when she found out that she was pregnant, and for 13 years she’s been on the run with her son, but is forced to confront her past when they get stranded in a small town. None of the acting is very good, except maybe for Mary Kathryn Bryant; who has a bit of charisma as a spunky waitress. The writing and directing are also pretty bad, making things hard to follow with visions or flashbacks, or something. Yet despite all of its problems, Children of the Corn: Runaway still manages to be better than a lot of the other garbage in this series.
