Chinese Zodiac 2012

Chinese Zodiac is one of the few Jackie Chan movies that have ended up being a bit hard to like. One other is Armour of God, and Chinese Zodiac does some of the same errors. An insane pacing problem that makes certain parts rather dull, and it takes itself way too serious in some parts, while in others it's plain silly. The good is that the action is as fun as ever, and when you think about it, it's rather amazing that an old man like Jackie Chan can still do this stuff.

The action parts of this are ok, but the story makes some parts a chore to get through. Perfectly ok to skip if you are not a serious Jackie Chan fan.

The weakest part of the trilogy.

"It takes centuries to create a miracle, but a bomb or fire can destroy it in an instant."

It's hard trying to rate this because on what hand Jackie still fun to watch and there are some cool stunts, but this doesn't even come close to the original Armour of God movies.

Pretty ridiculous, but still fun. The tone and style are drastically different from the other two films in the trilogy. If you're watching it as an Armour of God sequel, it will probably disappoint you. The plot barely weaves its way between the action scenes, and the VFX can be distracting.

The movie just kept collecting main characters as it went along, and none of them got much of a chance to develop as a result. The romantic drama of all the main characters was odd because it was mostly off-screen. I wish Bonnie's character was more at the forefront, and that her big fight scene didn't have to be with another woman that we just met when she could have been alongside Jackie.

However, the action design and choreography are good, making it fun to watch.

It's a little too long for what it is, and it tends to be too zany and cartoonish, bit it's still got a few fun bits of adventure for a younger audience. The sizzle reel during the credits of Chan's past death-defying stunts was sadly more entertaining.

This feel like Star Wars the prequel. I refuse to consider this part of the Armor of the God trilogy.

Unfortunately a weak film. I had high hopes for this one, but it was a disappointment I must say. The cast was too big. There should have been just Jackie + 2 oder max 3 other people in the main roles. Also too many CGI stuff. The last 30 minutes were the best part of it.
