Color Adjustment 1992

Damn. Incredibly incisive and wide ranging, yet somehow also focused and succinct. It tackled the very idea of representation, it’s limits, the sacrifices made for an idea of progress. Who’s cast aside for the ‘right’ or ‘realest’ image. The calculations made by white executives for profit or the condescending compassion in their idea of role models. And that compassion continuing in Cosby’s image, and the media that is most challenging and most acknowledging of the multifaceted wide ranging and harsh reality of blackness in America, from black people, are so often sabotaged or cancelled for the sake of more white palatable fare. Much has changed, but so much hasn’t. This is as relevant and as engrossing today as it was then.
