Congo 1995

The book was one of my favorites. When the movie first came out, I knew changes had to be made but remember thinking this was halfway decent. Rewatching years later it felt like it was missing quite a bit. Im sure back in 1995 my mind automatically filled in the blanks. Now I need to track down a copy of the book and re-read it...

I loved the book and haven’t seen this since it came out in 1995. I forgot how much they changed from the book, the effects are soo out dated but it’s still a fun ride

Congo is one that could use a remake. Since even in 1995, some of the effects felt out dated. For Earthquakes it was like the director just shook the camera.
Amy the Gorilla, Ernie Hudson and the musical score are the best things about the movie. Hudson enjoys hamming it up throughout the movie.
Funny how the late Jerry Goldsmith I believe said the worst movie he scored was the 1999 Mummy lol. This isn’t as bad as some say but yeah the Mummy was a much better adventure and film. Goldsmith scored both.

Amazing cast. Good story. I mean, for 1995 it really could have been worse. the laser at the end is something I can believe in, and the primates weren't too over the top. Tim Curry sounded a lot like BORAT. Ernie Hudson and Laura Linney were the stars of this movie. Both determined and strong.

Horribly cheesy but still decent to watch. We get a ridiculous plot line partnered up with some hammed up performances which makes for some good moments.

Michael Crichton’s techno-thriller Congo leaps off of the page and onto the big screen in this fun adventure film. In order to get into the Congo and search for a lost expedition team, a telecom security agent joins a group that’s releasing a gorilla into the wild. The film has a rather interesting cast that includes Laura Linney, Ernie Hudson, Tim Curry, and Bruce Campbell. Also, the ape performers are pretty good; the ones who do Amy especially, as they make her feel like a real character. Additionally, the action scenes add a lot of energy and excitement to the film. Congo may be one of Crichton’s lessor works, but it’s still an entertaining ride.

Must've been cool effects etc back in the day. Not much of a concrete story though.
