Something felt off about the pacing and the fights looked like they were from a video game.
Can’t wait for Amara IV when she goes to Russia to avenge the death of her mother at the hands of the girl that destroyed her painting
We just left the movie and while liking it overall, there's a lot that could be fixed. A bit tired right now, but leave a reply asking to expand and I'll get back to it
Get up, D!
Me in a strip club or Creed's wife in this movie
Creed 3 is like the above quote because it's some alpha-male macho bullshit about the importance of respect as long as it's not towards your wife.
The original Rocky was so good because it was a humanist movie set in the boxing milieu. Creed 3 is a boxing movie set in steroids and not a very good one at that.
I was shocked when I went to my movie theater this morning and saw that this new American big budget release had been relegated to the cineplex's smallest screen after only three days. But then the movie started and myself along with the 5 other people in the theater felt like we were the only ones left in Paris not in on the joke.
Stallone said he’ll never watch it because what they did to him with copyrights of Rocky. No Rocky in the movie? No movie.
If holywood wants people to stop pirating movies, then they have to stop making absolute garbage like this. Seriously glad I didn't waste any money on this.
A sad, shallow sequel. I regret watching it. I hoped it was as good as they tried to sell it, but I knew something was off since they focused so much on the directorial debut, I don't know who wrote the story but it sure as fu*k wasn't Stallone, this has Coogler written all over it, it seems he loves taking money from agenda-pushers, not even the classics are safe anymore, he ruined Black Panther, and now he ruined Creed too, that's 2 franchises ruined by a talentless writer with no integrity. I shudder to think what career-ruining horsesh*t awaits us in the upcoming "Creed-verse", it's so transparent and dare I say dumb that I feel sorry for MBJ, he should abandon this project and stay the fu*k away from Coogler and everyone else involved in this, there's still some hope left for him, but definitely not for universe revolving around something so fundamentally shallow, so bad.
Just don't watch the movie, they skipped everything that made Rocky great, they diluted it to the point where it's not even a proper drink, it's not even water, they split the elements and Creed III can only be described as a pocket of air stuck between the writer's buttcheeks, it stinks. Many would dismiss that as hater talk, but anyone with common sense sees exactly what I see, besides being a fart of a movie, it's also an insult to Rocky and Stallone, he's just too old to care probably, so he's being supportive of MBJ's work, but in reality, we all know what's up. And yeah I said it's a fart of a movie, not a sh*t movie, that's because in order to be sh*t, it needs to actually have substance, and it really doesn't, the whole story can be told in A SINGLE SENTENCE. And that within itself is a story not worth telling. Horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible fu*king movie, please someone tell Coogler to find work somewhere where he can't so royally fu*k things up for so many people. This should not be tolerated. In any other workplace, he'd be canned and sued for damages, but somehow Hollywood is supportingly allowing people like him to ruin franchises, and this isn't the only example, we've all noticed it lately, right? These agendas aren't circumstancial, it's planned, somethin's afoot, something very bad that doesn't even have anything to do with the movie business, but rather with politics. As if I needed an extra reason to dislike this garbage of a movie.
it was okay not great new movie just to waste time
Too much filler and not enough substance. Majors was the highlight of this movie.
Edit: best movie I've seen in years. Michael B Jordan and Jonathan Majors were amazing.
Michael B Jordan really took the torch from Stallone and made this into his own thing. I was a bit hesitant going into this one knowing Rocky wouldn't be there but with this cast, I know it's in safe hands. This is the way you pass the batton. And the personal story is so intense. Donny trying to see the good in his friend. I haven't talked about how this is filmed and the score cause I don't know too much about that stuff. But this does something to me. (it does help I know a bit of sign language)
The high intensity match-up between Michael and Jonathan clearly makes this a clear winner.
Creed 3 is a muscular, ruthless and dazzling sequel which has all the elements of not just carrying forward the franchise but also a captivating match-up between the two leads Michael and Jonathan which is worth all your time. The screenplay this time is much more engrossing and arresting, boxing setups are brutal, music is vibrant and dynamic. Michael Jordan as usual is exceptional but Jonathan Majors takes away all the limelight this time. He is invincible in a sinister way as the antagonist. Overall, the best film of the franshise yet for sure which serves as a brilliant experience.

What have they done to the Rocky movies legacy ?!?!
OMG, horrible !!
The worst one in the trilogy.
I felt so disconnected watching this movie, it doesn't have anything to do with the franchise. That is what of the reasons, but it is not the only one, I don't know the story was weak and the acting wasn't the best, even the camera work was off for me for the boxing scene at the end.
Also, they just dropped everything about Rocky, not even an honorable mention or anything to tell us what happened to him...
It was good, but it left me a little cold, for me it is the end of the saga.
Entertaining, but Forgettable. Majors did an amazing job.
Not great but ok. I found Jonathan Majors pulling the movie along. Oddly the worst part of the movie is the main fight.
Solid :ok_hand_tone5: but imagine this one as a series though
One thing’s for sure, if Johnny Majors’s acting don’t cement his place in Hollywood, his facial expressions/pouting sure will :joy:
It's basically what you would except from the Creed series. Although every time they said Drago, I was hoping Dolph Lundgren was going to show up.
Film 39 (Goal: 300) of 2024
Standard fare, but still a very enjoyable film and a solid entry into the long running Rocky/Creed franchise. Better than some of the worst Rocky films. Michael B. Jordan does a competent job and shows he's got potential behind the camera. Would like to do something with a stronger script. Both Jordan and Jonathan Majors are excellent in their roles. Majors could have done with another 15 minutes on screen to sell his character, which would have helped when Jordan accepts the fight out of nowhere.
As for the franchise, it's still putting out very good fare but it feels like it might be time to put the gloves down for a bit (though a sequel with Creed's daughter in the future could be interesting, as we don't get too many stories from women's combat sport).
Another entertaining entry from this franchise.
I do enjoy these 'Rocky'/'Creed' flicks, they always tend to bring enjoyable performances and excellent fight scenes - and 'Creed III' delivers in those aspects, alongside others. It is a shame, though, that they couldn't get Sylvester Stallone involved here.
In fairness, however, I wouldn't necessarily say the film is weaker or anything without Stallone - it just would've been nice to see him reprise his role, that's all. Cast-wise, it is as strong as you would expect. Michael B. Jordan is impressive, while Tessa Thompson is good (if somewhat underused). It's a shame that Jonathan Majors has ruined his own career off reel because that guy has quite the screen presence, hey-ho!
I'm kinda interested in further installments, though at the same time it would be good if they kept this as a three-film thing. But, hey, the original titular character got 6 movies so I guess the current main man deserves a couple more, eh? Intrigued to see where they go with it, all the same.
A boxing film. They were missed.
Sorry... Could only watch 30 minutes... Too boring and the vocal soundtrack sounded like you were listening to a whisper coming from next door.... Rage Quit an watching Barbie instead...
Love the Rocky films...
But Creed....
NOPE...
Jonathan Majors was the most bad ass villain in the series. Cinematics and visually were great, especially the fight scenes.
Did Creed just turned Super Saiyan?
Unbelieveable how predictable this one is. Beside that the camera work is... speechless unspectacular. Very disappointed.
I thought everyone really did a great job in their roles, but Jonathan knocked it out of the park as Damian. Gave off incredibly uncomfortable “me against the world” vibes throughout. Every shot of Dame, Jonathan Majors captured a person that quite literally has lost years of his life and bright future. It's a shame, if it's true, about the real-life allegations against him, because he was really damn talented.
Fight scenes are shot incredibly well. They mix the brutality and the ballet that combine to make boxing the sport it is. Overall, really impressive directing debut by Michael B. Jordan.
This followed the same recipe as all the Rocky and Creed movies that preceded it, but it was enjoyable.
The fight scenes were unrealistic as usual, but they looked fantastic and we’re well scripted and produced.
Good acting all around and if marvel plans to do another Hulk they won’t need CGI, they can just call Jonathan Majors ‘cause he was JACKED!
The trailer for this movie deserves a bunch of credit. It built my personal expectations that this might be the best Rocky/Creed movie ever. Jonathan Majors is a great addition to any franchise, especially Rocky/Creed. The movie was still everything you want and have come to expect out of this series, unfortunately something felt missing that made it my least favorite of the Creed films (still three great films, nonetheless). The boxing match having CGI also felt a smidge out of place.
Rating: 4/5 - 8.5/10 - Would Recommend
It's a simple movie, but I enjoyed it a lot. Jordan, Thompson and Majors are great actors and bring this one to a good end. Hope for Majors he get's back on his feet, he has so much going for him.
So so movie…will never match the worst of the Rocky series….but at least we know what the next movie will be….the daughter becoming a boxer!
Dragon Ball Z in the boxing ring, that's exactly what lead actor and director Michael B. Jordan created with Creed III. As a big fan of the anime series, he took over one or two scenes directly into his directorial debut. And indeed, the boxing scenes are consistently dynamic, breathtaking and thus even better than the already great fights in the two predecessor films.
Apart from that, however, some disillusionment creeds, um... creeps in. The story seems artificial and unnecessary. That an old friend now becomes his greatest opponent... well... okay. You can do that, but you don't have to.
For me, Creed III is the worst part of the Creed series. I felt entertained, but in the end I didn't turn off the TV with that "those were the 2 best invested hours grin".
The performance Michael B. Jordan & Jonathan Majors pulled off is really amazing. And with 125 million less budget that Ant-Man 3, this movie is a solid 9/10 for me.
Probably the weakest boxing scenes of any of the Creed or even the Rocky movies. Michael B. Jordan tries to be too stylish with the slow motion and etc. The story and performances are at least good.
It’s funny how Jonathan Majors pays the older one of the two former friends. When Michael B. Jordan is 36 and Majors is 33.
I was into the main fight until it pretty much turned into a silly dream sequence. That was more about the cgi than the fight. By the time it got back to reality, I barely cared anymore about the fight. There was too much style.
That takes you out of the fight. With the last fight weaker than maybe any from a Rocky or Creed movie. The movie is more about the friendship and their history than the fight but still the fight was weak.
I felt the plot was better than the fight scenes honestly. Lots of quality backstory, but you don’t really feel the bad blood in the last fight.
Liked it more than i expected.Even though the story was simple and predictable it was well writen and with good pace.Nice directing debut from Jordan i enjoyed his directing. 7.5/10
First of all: Believe victims, and I stand with the people Jonathan Majors has abused. I personally felt comfortable still seeing this as the allegations came out after this movie and as of yet there’s no word on if he’ll be in the series going forward. I absolutely don’t blame anyone if his presence colors the film or if they don’t see it at all.
Creed 1 was from a visionary director, a star of his generation, with a sharp clarity and finesse. Creed 2 was from a journeyman, a steady hand that kept the ship afloat, but the film lacked a distinct identity and was perhaps more Rocky than Creed. Creed 3 is from a first time director, eager to prove himself with new ideas and a daring style because he doesn’t know what he’s not ‘supposed’ to do. Jordan brings to the fire a distinct identity, wearing his influences on his sleeve, and gives the series a distinct feel of its own to build off on sans Rocky. It proves Creed an stand seperate from Rocky.
Jordan lives and breathes his character by this point. Charming and loving but wounded and raw, carrying forward the trait that’s been there from the start: his need to shield his pain and trauma and hide his feelings from those he loves most. Thompson is his equal, her plot line serving as a great parallel to Adonis and Dame alike, the film talking great care to showcase her feelings as well. And Amara is easily the most charming a child has ever been in a series, and you can’t help but imagine her carrying the story down the line. The detail given to her deafness is a wonderful touch too, and this family shines more than the Balboas.
One area Creed has relatively faltered in is its antagonists. It’s put so much time on fleshing out Adonis and his family that his rivals are secondary. Not the case here. Adonis finally has a rival equal to Rocky’s Apollo. He’s a character you understand completely, ruthless but understandably so, sympathetic but not to the extent that you root against Adonis. You understand why from his point of view he’s the hero, and in another film with slight tweaks, he would be. It showcases his physicality and menace in the ring but never loses sight of the human being, and strips that armor away to show the traumatized child at the heart. Majors’ personal misdeeds aside, Dame is a franchise highlight, with raw emotion brimming between him and Adonis.
It all culminates in the big fight, where Jordan proudly brings a level of stylization never seen in the series before, not even in IV’s goofy camp and Creed 1’s authentic vision. It takes the impassioned larger than life emotion of the anime that resonated with Jordan and proudly embraces it, but in a way that heightens the human drama rather than distract from it. It’s a riveting time, and even without Majors going forward (or at least I hope so) I think Creed is in good hands going forward. This one is a real knockout.
it's a rocky-creed movie. if you don't like the predictable plot and training montages then it's not for you. me on the other hand loved every second of it. Majors brings a very high intensity with his whole demeanor, and you can see where they want to take this franchise. I like it 10/10
That ending is fucked up. Yall established that you basically brothers, have the emotional heft at the beach to ingrain that sense-of-betrayal-sentiment into the audience... then you proceed to leave that man to brood alone (?!?) and have a happy af ending to close out the film?...
Majors amazing. I cannot connect with B Jordan acting not convincing. The movie was MEH, the storyline is just corny and predictable. Is it a MUST WATCH? Only if you are bored out of your mind.
The coloring of this movie looks off and there are too many cgi backgrounds
It's like they tried to do a modern black people Rocky movie, with rap music and decent fights choreography - but it lacked something in all aspects. The Heart, which was the Rocky himself.
"Get up, D!" - that's what she said, literally. Kinda summarizes the whole movie.
A generous 7.0 for this one. I enjoyed most of the acting with Majors and Jordan being quite good, but there were a lot of elements that rubbed me the wrong way. Having the actor playing Chavez be a heavyweight champ is a mess. Guy looks to be a natural welterweight (147lbs) so that took me out of it. Creed himself would be a light heavy at 175 but I've let that pass since he moved up in weight during the trilogy. Didn't mind the CGI polished fight scenes like others have. Good, but not great.
First of all, Creed III did NOT needed Rocky Balboa. His story has already been told, many, many times before.
These boxing movies can get very predictable but I thought the story of reuniting with a childhood friend that fell by the wayside was interesting, even relatable, in a way.
I also liked the fantastical segment in the final fight. It kept things fresh
Your average boxing movie, the fighting and choreography was enjoyable. In terms of plot it's nothing that hasn't been done before but if you're after a couple hours of some boxing you could do a lot worse.
I found the little girl to be obnoxious.
I also didn’t care for the metaphorical fight cut shot at the end.
It’s not the same without Sylvester
Just bad. lazy and overdone at same time. they could have written the same movie without using the Rocky franchise. Being such a huge fan for so long, i really didn't like this one @ all.
Overhyped dribble. Shouldn’t have went past the first movie.
who do you think would win in a real fight? jordan or majors?
Other than the punches, often not really pugilistic, the movie does not have much to say. In the screen a lot of young boys.
You know what you’re getting into at this point. It’s lowbrow Raging Bull, or UFC/WWE for people who think they’re slightly above that stuff. I liked the previous 2, but this one leans a little heavy into cheesy, melodramatic territory, which is exactly what I don’t like about the original Rocky franchise. The story, like almost every installment in this series, is very by the numbers and predictable (so much so that you kinda know the entire plot after the opening scene). There are a few interesting ideas boiling under the surface, but they don’t entirely come to fruition (the effect of Adonis’ profession on his daughter; the social distance between Adonis now and his former life). A lot of the movie is elevated by the three main performers, who are all way too good for this material. The directing is okay-ish, I think he did a good job with making the fight scenes feel brutal, but there’s nothing special about the cinematography or music. In fact, I was a little annoyed by the amount of string arrangements that are played during all the most obvious dramatic moments, which is such an obvious, cheesy call. There’s also surprisingly little tension in the first half due to our main character being on top of everything and having nowhere to progress, so it drags in places. Easily the worst of the three if you ask me, though still better than anything Stallone managed to put out.
4.5/10
Definitely missing something without Rocky's character, but still a decent movie in it's own right. Acting was okay and it was an all new story for the franchise because Creed I was basically a reboot of Rocky I and Creed II was a reboot of a combined Rocky II and IV. I think this may be the last one in the franchise though. I don't think it can make it without Rocky.
Rated a Connor 10, normal 8
Best live-action anime of 2023!
Creed III is an impressive directorial debut from Michael B. Jordan, who directed the fight scenes with visual stimulation. There are some stellar shots in this movie. Jonathan Majors continues to shine as an actor, as he makes for one fantastic villain. I am glad it’s not another Rocky-related villain for Adonis Creed to fight.
The movie manages to stand on its own without Sylvester Stallone’s presence.
But man, the Rocky and Creed movies make me feel so out of shape, lol.
The story was so stupid. Definitely the worst in the creed trilogy.
A little predictable but awesome movie. If you can watch it in 4DX it's amazing like you're in the ring with them haha ush :boxing_glove:
A great 3rd movie for this series as Creed is forced out of retirement as someone from his past emerges with a hidden agenda and he must make a decision as did his predecessors in the Rocky movies in this situation as he has a family and already accumulated wealth. The plot development is good except for some filling in gaps to begin from :pound_symbol:2. Movie feels a bit dragged on but all plot points are necessary. You finally get to dig into more about the Creed lineage. Well filmed, great action scenes and acting.
Oohh... So this is a bit of a tough one.
Let's go with treating it as "not a Rocky film" given they make zero mention of Mr Robert Balboa in this.
On the plus side - some interesting cinematography/direction. A bit more emotion from the main two characters versus the previous two instalments. The villain.
On the negative side - transparent plot. Almost everything is shot as a close up on the actors and it starts to grate quite early on. Clearly a lot of vanity from MBJ. Lots of liberties taken with fight choreography, much of which doesn't work and makes it look like a video game. Zero Rocky - zero! Not a mention of his name.
As a film on its own, it's something between fair and good. Given how predictable the story is and the lack of dynamics between the dramatic scenes and the fight scenes - it's all just in your face and spelled out for you - then it isn't very original.
I have a major problem though. For reference, the way this ends feels like the end of the Creed trilogy. But the issue I have is that the Creed series was an extension of the Rocky anthology... And it doesn't end that at all well.
Let me put it this way. You want to watch all. The Rocky films. Do you stop at Creed 2? Can you ignore the existence of Creed 3? No. You watch it, of course you do... And there isn't a single mention of the man. There's a few subtle nods. But his name isn't even mentioned.
And so I'm stumped. It's average. And as an end to the Creed trilogy, I'd have to give it more time to sink in but I'm thinking it may be a little worse than 2 and a lot worse than 1.
As an end to the Rocky anthology though, it's nothing short of a disgrace.
First half is a solid four star, then Jonathan Majors takes a back seat and the movie loses a lot of steam. Creed is absolutely the villain in both of his sequels, Majors kills it. Jordan actually has nice visual flair as director and I was surprised that I dug the stylistic choices in the last fight. Justice for Diamond Dame.
A likeable "underdog" protagonist? Check! A charismatic, seemingly unbeatable antagonist? Check! A cool training montage? Check! A tense final showdown? Check!
The third Creed movie doesn't quite manage to maintain the quality of its predecessors, but it's still thoroughly entertaining. However, there are hardly any innovations. The classic Rocky formula is omnipresent. Every single item on the checklist is meticulously crossed out. As with most of the other parts of the series, this is hardly an issue, though. The formula just works. And even if it is a pity that Sylvester Stallone is no longer part of the franchise, this is quite helpful for the character Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan). At last, he stands on his own.
Jordan does a solid job as both director and leading man. His chemistry with Tessa Thompson also continues to be strong. Mila Davis-Kent as their daughter Amara perfectly complements the family dynamic. The true MVP of "Creed III," however, is Jonathan Majors. He sweeps every scene he's in with his presence. His facial expressions are simply unbeatable.
I didn't like everything, though. For example, the opening of the movie is very bumpy. It also took me quite a while to get used to the look of the film. Especially the first fight seemed visually "off" to me. However, that all improved over the course of the two-hour runtime. The later fight sequences are much stronger, even if the CGI arenas are a bit distracting. The ending then unfortunately seemed a bit anticlimactic, further hurting my overall impression. Nevertheless, I would watch more Creed films without hesitation.
This was actually good better than rocky Lots of lessons being tought
really solid movie. I felt like I was on the edge of my seat to see what happened next, which is always fun.
I loved the emotional plot lines brought into the final fight as well as that amazing shot with the double punch! Such good acting from both of the leads, honestly a great watch.

Creed lll is formulaic and predictable, yet entertaining. It was easy to enjoy despite its plot weaknesses. And Jonathon Majors was fantastic.
