My Pro and Con
Pro
+ Good, honest, direct Movie Maker
+ It takes its time to show the Explanation about his technique, although he did not describe everything in detail.
+ Great insides in Moviework and especially Scriptwork, e.g. for Mission Impossible.
Con
- He speaks 7 Minutes about the Cover Art-featured Movie Scarface which starts at Minute 50. And 5 Minutes about Casulaties of War. That's it. Nice, but way to short and for my understanding way to late. He takes much more time to talk about his early indi's
- In total there is something like 30 movies he made and he talks much about them, but maybe the documentary should have concentrated on the most interesting Ones.
Interesting Documentary? Sure. Interessting guy? Of Course. But not all of his movies were.
I really enjoyed this documentary. It was a fairly simple format, basically he goes chronologically through his filmography, and he discusses how those projects came about, his influences for each film, and the results. It makes you want to go back and rewatch them, especially the ones that you probably didn't like at first (Snake Eyes).
An excellent documentary that peels away the layers behind De Palma and his movies. A must see for any movie buff interested in the technicalities of movies and scene composition.
I have a new found respect for Snake Eyes after watching this.

A movie buff's wet dream, this is a fascinating account of one man's work, from his classics (The Untouchables) to the misfires (Mission From Mars). With clips from all De Palma' films, and a wonderful commentary from the great man himself, this is riveting stuff.
