Deadly Illusions 2021

Oh man... I mean, you can tell early on something stinks here, but you can dismiss it thinking it's a lifetime movie or something, it could potentially lead somewhere interesting. Nope, the first two acts were okay, and then the third is absolutely, unquestionably, terrible. Really bad movie with really bad acting across the board. It's so bad you think it's possibly a spoof movie, but it's totally not, it's just garbage.

Was decent until the final 30 minutes, where they kind of quickly reveal everything without any depth anymore. Next to that, I think that actress Kristin Davis didn't act very well. Especially close to the ending, when she finds her stabbed husband in the shower, asking all surprised "Oh my god...! What happened?" which didn't sound scared/shocked at all.

Never in my life have I seen a worse movie, and that is including Hallmark Christmas movies. I'm like actually mad this script made it past the intern's desk. In fact, it shouldn't have even LANDED on the intern's desk. This movie fails in every aspect: the script, the plot, the acting, the production quality...you name it, it's probably weak. It's a waste of 1.5 hours filled with weak suspense that is boring and cringe-worthy from their overuse of tacky sound effects and music, and then the last 40 minutes of the movie they cram in all the action...but the action is STUPID. I wanted this to be one of those bad movies that's entertaining to make fun of and laugh at, but this was just...bad.

This is bad... really bad. Couldn't get past 9 minutes and switched it off.
Do people not read a script before signing up for movies nowadays?

-10/10

At first it looked promising, but it was very slow. This movie is supposed to be a thriller, but only in the last 20 minutes some really weird kind of thrilling things happened

oh god the acting was so terrible that it made the movie look a lot more worse

Kristin Davis stars in Deadly Illusions, a fairly standard psychological thriller. When bestselling novelist Mary Morrison starts writing a new book, she hires a nanny to help with her kids while she writes, but begins losing touch with reality the deeper she gets into her book and becomes suspicious of her nanny. Davis gives a strong performance, as does Greer Grammer. However, the writing’s a little weak; offering a lot of interesting twists, but failing to provide answers as to what was real and what was fantasy. Still, overall the film does a good job at creating mystery and intrigue. Atmospheric and engaging, Deadly Illusions is entertaining but it’s also rather by-the-numbers.

Summary - Mary went dark like her friend suggested, and nothing was real after she sat down to write. On the surface the plot is a literal weird fucking fever dream, but at the core, it's grooming (of Grace, the non existent fictional character) and sexual exploitation (of the actors, because most of those scenes were absolutely unnecessary and I did not need to see the entirety of Dermot Mulroney's backside).

I'm so sorry for the mess." - Grace/Margaret/Mary/The Writer
Uhm, sweety, no, there's no apology that could fix this one.

2/10 - for the beautiful scenery, but i'll forget it all by tomorrow.

Wow...

I had to set the playback speed up to 1.25x and change to 1.5x for a few parts to be able to finish the movie. For the first 45min I thought I was watching a bad named Lifetime movie like "The wrong nanny", but that was the real deadly illusion because it is so much worse.

A total disappointment.

The idea of this movie is not horrible. It's just bad and cliche 5/10. The worst thing is the acting. Omg it's like K. Davis never acted b4. So stiff, no emotion, clumsy much. The direction is also bad. Some stupid camera shooting... I want my time back.

i have to believe this is a satire because otherwise i don't understand what happened from the decently acted first act to whatever the end was.

this movie was so phenomenally terrible that we cant rule out that it was done so intentionally. its sad though, because if it were intentionally trying to be a parody, it feigned authenticity to a degree beyond what it should have throughout various points in the movie. how seriously the movie seems to take itself during its almost two hour running time is troubling as the individuals responsible for this atrocity may have actually been attempting to make what they consider to be an amazing psychological thriller.

whether intentional or not, the final product has triggered enough of a viewer response to possibly allow the people behind it to feel as though they got a win with this one, when it should really and truly be buried in the desert along with all the surplus copies of the famously abysmal E.T. Atari game.

Decent movie, easy to watch and follow. From time to time it makes you wonder what is real and what is fantasy. Acting is pretty solid also.
