Dirty Dancing 1987

Some of y'all need to lighten the f.k up. Simple, yet charming. A fun movie for the summer weekend.

An iconic movie! Fantastic music, superb acting, simple but great story, wonderful chemistry between Baby and Johnny, but, Oh-La-La - the heat of the dancing! I challenge you to sit still in your seat as you watch this movie - it can't be done! Lots of perfect moments: dancing on the log, flirting in the studio, and the grandest of finales! Nothing left to say but to give it a 10 (iconic) out of 10.

I’m glad that as a society we’ve progressed to a point where it’s ok for women to watch porn, so that they don’t have to put up with bullshit like this again.
Going into it I knew it was going to be cheesy to at least some degree (it’s a mass product from the 80s), but I still ended up surprised by how unbearably melodramatic, regressive and cliché this is.

2.5/10

Trivial plot, and the dancing element is almost useless, as well as unbalanced throughout the movie. Can be passed without remorse.

So.. first time seeing this ever. Always thought it wasn’t a type of film I’d like. However I love Patrick Swayze and the 80’s, and I’d always liked the music from the film. So glad I finally watched this, I loved it! What a great decade of movies and music the 80’s was. One of the best soundtracks to any film ever, and one of Swayze’s best performances ever. What a dancer.

overrated and boring, makes no sense.

"Dirty Dancing" delivers a deeply felt promise of naive youthful romance with unbelievable chemistry between the two main protagonists. The story may be simple, but filled with magic which inexplicably refuses to die away with age or repeated watching. Even now, as an adult I seem still somewhat embarrassingly enticed by the simplistic allure, albeit notice the inherent flaws, stereotypical characters or shortcomings of the entire story. What is probably still the most successful in this movie is its terrific score with what could possibly be the best pop musical score in movie history.

Did I already watch Dirty Dancing this week for the nth time? Yes. Is it ever too soon to watch it again? No.

Patrick Swayze is so dreamy. Jennifer Grey is beautiful. They have amazing chemistry. I've had the time of my life dance is incredible.

A good film that people seem to prefer a lot more than I do. I do enjoy it, but again think it's overrated slightly. Although I've got to say I love Patrick Swayze!

I always watch this movie with my mother, it became a tradition when I was only 15 or younger. Every time it's on TV we will watch it. The movie is timeless and the music is subliminal. The final dance is iconic and will always be.

Pretty iconic.

Not sure how I hadn't logged this until now, given it's a film I watched quite a bit growing up due to it being my mum's favourite movie. Better late than never! 'Dirty Dancing' is entertaining - cheesy, but entertaining. What helps is the ace soundtrack, which culminates with the classic '(I've Had) The Time of My Life' scene.

The film flies through its 100-minute run time and features super chemistry between leads Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey, two who give strong performances. Jerry Orbach (Just me confusing him with Jonathan Hyde? Probably.) is good too. As you'd expect, the dance numbers are all on point as well.

I've never checked out the 2004 prequel, 'Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights'. It's next up, though high hopes I do not hold - but we'll see.

This new application of Cinderella comes to impact

The only question I have is: they were surrounded by a lot of talented dancers, so why did they agreed to let Baby fill in for Penny even through she had almost zero dancing experience?

Other than that, cool movie.

Enjoyed more than I expected to. First time watching in 2020, because I saw show Movies that made us episode about this movie.

Great movie and music, I just have to say; this movie was supposed to be set in the 50's but many songs are clearly influenced by 80's rhythms, so why not just do it in the correct time era?

It took me quite some time to finally watch this movie. I actually liked it more than expected. The acting was reasonably well and the story interesting enough. I don't understand the hype around this movie (maybe I don't find Patric Swayze as hot as most people…) though.
