I'm kinda picky with my Dracula movies and I really enjoyed this one.
This movie is a mess, it don't even respect its own rules and the atmosphere is just wrong.
"Dracula Untold" is an underrated action movie with the story of the origin of Dracula. This movie has a dramatic and full of action story, disclosed through great screenplay, special effects and music score. Luke Evans is perfect in the role of a prince capable of an ultimate sacrifice to save his beloved family and people. It is funny to see the comment that a vampire action movie does not have historical accuracy.
"Sometimes the world no longer needs a hero. Sometimes what it needs is a monster."
Is good enough, but not great.
I really enjoyed this. A story that deviates from what we already thought about the vampire genre but then again, there are so many interpretations of the story of vampires.
I loved this movie. It definitely didn't feel like a true Dracula "vampire" movie, but it was definitely fun to watch.
I got to say when I heard that there is going to be a movie that focused on the
character of Vlad the Impaler not related to character of the Irish novelist Bram stoker's Dracula, I simply could not wait.
Historically speaking I was always fasicated by the character and wanted to know more about the man behind the legend but that movie brought nothing to me but utter and complete disappointment.
Instead what the movie provided was a shotty plot and unbelievable story line that could have been done in a far greater way. Instead the writer provided child like details to portray a superpower that looked believable but somehow was not impressive and for the lack of another suitable word was described by "Meh"
However not for the lack of efforts of Luke Evans the main actor portraying the character Vlad, The somehow fresh British actor did a decent job but that did not stop the story line to not come together as it should have when the actual story is THAT breath taking.
On November 3, 2014, it was speculated that, based on domestic and foreign earnings to date, the film "is likely on the edge of earning enough to start a modest franchise.
great film plenty of action great story line.
love how they use the story of Vlad the Impaler which is what Dracula is based on (he was a real dude in history).
i do love how they user some of the real history of him, but they made it alot more causal like all Hollywood movies tho sadly :/
it was a good movie that for sure and they set things up for another movie aswell that excites atleast me alot as that one sounds alot better IMO.
alot of good/great actors here (3 from GoT XD) that does well with the script they are bound too. the movie itself is good but might have have had too little backstory and lore for my taste.
the action is over the top and the effects are good. vampire abilities is done right in this one for sure!
all in all one of the best vamp movies since Blade & Van Hellsing (not really that great but still)
I'm not much for horror movies at all but this one actually went against the standard Dracula storyline and left an ending that is a teaser for a future film, although you never know with the studios anymore.
The film was interesting, albeit a little unexpected. I think it tries to bring in some historical knowledge of the original Vlad the Impaler, not much since very little is really known. but enough to create a better background than most Dracula movies. It's one of those movies you'll like if you like the hero being also a villain, the good and the bad, people do bad things for good reasons. Maybe for some that will not appeal, but I think it humanized the character more.
I liked this more than the traditional dracula. but I think many people didn't like this because it's build up is short. Many troupe went to love interest less world building. but not bad movie. not a must watch but if you have time go watch it
I’m not one to rewatch films, but I love this and could happily watch it 100 times over. It never grows old for me.
Most certainly one of my favourite films!
This is not a movie, it´s the swamp where Luke Evans drowned his career.. Sorry!!!
Men its just boring... I slipped a 4 times at least.
I don't know why ? But this movie actually like it a lot ! great actors btw !! Luke Evans and Dominic Cooper
this film isnt ral dracula life
A different take on an old tale. Worth watching if you want to kill an hour or so.
It's a really dumb movie.
An exciting new take on Bram Stoker’s classic character, Dracula Untold is a thrilling horror film. The story follows Prince Vlad as he makes a deal with a demon to gain the power to hold off an invasion by a Turkish army. Surprisingly the film doesn’t really violate any Dracula lore, and works well as a tragic backstory for the character. Starring Luke Evans, Dominic Cooper, and Sarah Gadon, the cast is pretty good and gives strong performances. The costumes and special effects are also quite impressive, and create an interesting dark fantasy-esque visual aesthetic. A liberal adaptation, Dracula Untold is a very different kind of Dracula tale that’s full of action and adventure.
Hummna hummna hummna! Luke Evans is as male as they come. A bit of heartache happened when found out that we can never be (Mr Evans prefers gents as well), but he plays straight- even straighter than Sean Connery! Anyways: love all about the Dracula´s of the cinema and so this movie was carried by Mr Luke Evans all the way. His voice only is worthy of an Oscar.
Not the best Dracula / vampire movie I've seen but surely entertainable for 1,5 hours, at least he doesn't sparkle in the sun
Skip it: not worth the time, way better versions already done.
I liked the atmosphere, and the movie itself was quite good. But, the could've done something much better.
Better than I thought it would be....still nothing amazing though
how do i see movies in here
Media entry into cinema. It is entertaining, it is not long. But please do not make more of these. Better than Frankenstein but just pufff
Lol! I just realized that I wrote that comment in the wrong place. -.-

Looks pretty interesting!

We have here an atempt to make: a horror/action/drama/historical thriller, with a well know piece of literature that at the same time is one of the most iconic characters of all cinema history. Luke Evans don't even touch the surface of Dracula, managing to be worst than Gerard Butler in the also unlucky Dracula 2000.
All the motivations in the movie seems to misplaced (the villain is too evil, the hero is too good...) with a mish-mash of at least three recent big ass movies of the genre. We see Nolan's Dark Knight, Zack Snyder's 300 and Marc Webb's Spider Man, all compressed in the same plot.
The sets are good, but not good enough to work as a make up to the weak script we are served with. The transitions in the story are weird, making the entire movie an almost 2 hour trailer of something that appears to be good. This problem with the montage makes the movie empty and rely on the (maybe the great quality of the movie) visual effects, wich is a great mistake, once it does not translate the action with the proper dynamic.
We'll have to see about this expander universe of monsters, and wish that this mistake do not repeat with others beloved monsters.
