Eddie Murphy Raw 1987

One of the best stand ups ever!

I've always thought that Eddie Murphy was funny in his movies. I had never seen his standup before so I figured I'd give it a shot. I guess this is from a little bit too long ago. The entire show was impressions of people I'm not really familiar with, including a Bill Cosby bit that I didn't understand in the slightest.
I appreciated the foreigners story talking about how people from other countries only understood his swear words, so they come up yelling "fuck you eddie murphy!" with a big smile on their face. Other than that I think this hasn't aged well and I don't have a proper background to understand his jokes.

Raw is a legendary stand-up comedy performance that is considered by many to be one of the greatest of all time. Murphy's comedic timing, delivery, and energy are all on full display, as he takes on a range of topics, from relationships to politics to his own personal life. The material is raw, unapologetic, and hilarious, and it showcases Murphy's talent as a comedian. Despite being over 30 years old, the humor in the show still holds up and is as relevant today as it was back then.

Going in, it's worth remembering this is 30+ years old so the pop culture references suits someone 35 years old or more. That said, it starts off well - Mr T, Johnny Carson, the Rocky Italians - hilarious stuff. The getting into a fight routine at the end and Mom's McDonalds are much less funny. First half 9/10, second half 5/10. Overall 7/10.
