Based on a true story.
After failing to get into the police academy, Chris Potamitis (Hemsworth), settles for a security guard job with the EMPIRE STATE Armored Truck Company. He makes the mistake of mentioning the company's lax security to his best friend, Eddie (Angarano) & is unwittingly drawn into an elaborate scheme to rob the abundant amounts of cash being stored there - resulting in the largest cash heist in U.S. History. As the stakes continue to rise, Chris and Eddie must outwit James Ransone (Johnson), the veteran NYPD Detective hot on their trail, & the local crime bosses that want to know who pulled a job on their turf.

A friend of mine wanted to go to the theatre today and it's impossible to me to refuse a visit to the movie theatre but the idea of going to see this film didn't pleased me much at first but since I already saw pretty much everything else in exhibition now, we didn't have much choice. Well, Empire State is no masterpiece for sure but it turned out to be better than I thought it would be.

After being rejected by NYPD, Chris takes a job at Empire New York Security a company that collects money from various businesses around New York. When Chris tells his friend Eddie that Empire lacks of security, they get involved in one of the biggest robberies in the history of New York. This story is based on the true events that happened during 1982.

For the ones who think this is an action film, you are wrong. At first the pace is slow but it kept me entertained until the end maybe because of the fact that it's a real life story and I was curious to know how it would end. I didn't felt the suspense that would have been required for a story like this, a lot of the scenes should have been more intriguing. With all the right choices, this could have been a great film.

Michael Angarano gives the best performance of this film by playing Eddie. This guy is a jerk and has absolutely no manners, he doesn't respect anybody. He is very annoying and that's what makes Angarano's performance so believable. He really mess up with your nerves! Liam Hemsworth still doesn't convince me, in my opinion he is not consistent. Dwayne Johnson did a good job, this guy should start making different roles. I wanna see him do something different because we already know that he is great playing the confidente badass guy!

Overall, Empire State is just okay.

So much about this movie made me frustrated. Chris makes horrible choices, Eddie is an absolute moron and a horrible person. Overall, this movie was not satisfying at all.
