it´s been A LONG time since i had so much fun watching a Movie.
it´s been A MONG time since i want to rewatch a Movie.
In the hands of a lesser director, this could have been awful. As it is, its a mostly competent shoot em up, with a nice line of humour and committed playing from the cast. Probably worth a second watch to catch all the details that are bound to be missed the first time around.
Lots of guns, lots of action, lots of John Denver.
First 30 minutes and last 15 minutes are great but it tends to drag a bit around the middle yet the action scenes are put together very well to keep you interested. Sharlto Copley is a stand-out from the cast who are all excellent to make the film great fun overall.
Silly accents, morons with guns and a hot chick...this movie was great
More storylines than plot, definitely a B movie, but the characters are distinctive and the movie somehow is memorable for me long after seeing it. Also redeems a great cheesy John Denver song.
Free Fire is simply a glorious riot. Does for guns what Mad Max: Fury Road did for cars.
B-List actors make a Live Action film of PUBG.
Great, memorable characters and a bit of a rip roar of action. The bullets are constantly flying and although the twist is predictable, still enjoyable throughout.
For a movie with s-o many bullets flying around; this is one dull, dull dud.
Considering I hated High Rise and was lukewarm, at best, on Kill List, I really had low expectations for this, despite the killer cast involved (which is really the reason I gave it a shot). Don't let any of Ben Wheatley's past work keep you away from this--it's a stellar old school action flick. Quips, switching allegiances, loads & loads of gunplay, and a focus directly on the action make this about 20 minutes of setup and 70 minutes of a bunch of people shooting it out inside of a warehouse. That's it. It's extremely lean, and extremely good because of it. Brie Larson, Cillian Murphy, Armie Hammer, and Sharlto Copley all seem to be having a ball. Action fans won't want to pass this one up.
Brie Larson is the only good part in it.
Such a simple movie deserves a simple review. It's a decent movie, has a lot of humor in it, but it just didn't work for me. Might be fun to watch with a couple of friends, but for me personally, the humor alone wasn't quite enough. Therefore a fair 6 out of 10.
What a mad shoot out but it was entertaining with a good cast that includes (shartio copley) with his mad accents..
very fun action comedy set in the 70s so it definitely has some Style
a very colorful cast of characters a simple yet enjoyable plot in a very self-contained setting

Good cast mucking about. One long shoot out. Silly, violent, senseless. I give it a 4 (bad) out of 10. (The Academy will probably give it an Oscar - they like bizarre). [Action, Crime, Comedy, Thriller?]
kinda like it, the acting was good the ending was abvious but the comedy part is what I like the most. You might get bored while watching so I wont recommend this movie to anyone.
Not many people have the chops to ditch everything but the gun fight out of an action movie, but Ben Wheatley has done this masterfully.
Well this kinda sucks. No I'm not talking about the movie itself, but mostly my expectations for it.
"Free Fire" is a stylish shoot 'em up film with a Tarantino vibe to it. While I wouldn't call it original, as many are saying it is, but I respect Ben Wheatley for taking a concept like this and actually going for it. The performances from everyone were solid and when some of the humor hit, it's pretty funny.
Despite the great cast, the director, and interesting plot; I felt there was something missing from this that stopped it from being great for me. I didn't get any enjoyment or anything special out of this. After the film was over, I got up from my seat and went home without evening thinking about what I just saw. That's never a good sign.
I think if the script was more tight and the characters were intriguing then I might have cared for whats happening. And if the runtime was a little shorter, because it got pretty old after awhile. I didn't find some of the humor that funny and it felt kinda force. The only parts that I chuckle at were mostly small things that characters would do or react to situations.
I was really disappointed with this, especially if it's a A24 film which are normally great.
I'm all for experimental films but this unfortunately disappointing, i fell a sleep by the end
Quirky and funny little action film. Some colorful characters, especially Copley, who is hilarious as usual. Only thing though, is if they were going for a more realistic take (which is refreshing) in that you don't always hit a moving target dead-on, and that when you get shot you don't instantly die or brush it off, then why did they follow the cliché of each person having unlimited ammo? Kind of takes away from the other points...
Free Fire is definitely competently made and its a fun watch but the characters are fairly dull apart from the quips. It also get to the point where all the missed shots reach pure ridiculousness. A wild movie like this should've been more unpredictable. Still solid and worth watching but it could've been outstanding.
The potential was there, but I didn't think it delivered.
I loved this film, love this genre loved the music and Great acting, recommend 8/10
A group of Irish men want to buy weapons for their resistance and meet in an abandoned warehouse. Their team is a rather spontaneous group of not entirely trustworthy persons - but so is the team of the weapons dealer, and because of this everything goes wrong and turns into a movie filling shootout.
This movie consists of a number of situational comedy shaped by the fire exchange of all participants and the way that these fundamentally different react in such an hopeless situation. The shootout that takes up 80 percent of the movie is kept interesting by different objectives that both sides try to reach as well as their constant trying of maybe somehow defusing the situation and get out of it somehow (which again fails as someone else screws it up again).
While the story is simple and can basically be summed up in a paragraph, the movie manages to stay entertaining the entire time using comedy, action and great shooting and storytelling, as well as using parallel storylines. If I had to compare the movie to another, I guess the closest match would be Tarantinos Reservoir Dogs; however the movie is still quite distinct, has it's own comedy style and is powerd rather by comedy than by excessive brutality (although it is brutal as well, of course). So in the end even people that don't like Reservoire Dogs end up liking this movie (my girlfriend for example).
I was grealty entertained and enjoyed this movie quite a lot.
Very fun movie. Simple concept, gun deal goes bad and everyone has a gun and they start shooting at each other. It was unintentionally (or maybe intentional) funny some of the situations the people get into. Short runtime made it an easy watch. Brie Larson is a babe.
It's like they've expanded Reservoir Dogs' warehouse scene for one and a half hour. And Stevo ruled!

Totally a mediocre b-movie, nothing spectacular a bit dull and repetitive.
