Heartbreaking true story.

I wasn't aware of anything about this film, I didn't even knew that this was about a true story and what a tragic story!

Michael B. Jordan gives a great and heartfelt performance as Oscar Grant, a twenty two year old who was murdered in Fruitvale Station on his way home after New Years Eve celebrations. Oscar was a troubled young man that was trying to put his life together, he was a devoted father who loved his girlfriend and family. He wasn't counting on the fact that his night was going to end up the way it did. Devastating.

Interesting that without knowing, I see this film on the day that makes five years that this young man passed away.

While watching this film was undoubtedly a very emotional experience, I once again can't help but to be bothered by the deviance from the facts. Large parts of the end of the movie are either disputed or unknown. Whole scenes in the film were either made up or actually happened to other people in the family. In a weird kind of way this film reminds me of the trickery that is used in the tv show Ghost Hunters . In that show the hosts pretend to question some facts of their case so that they can gain some kind of credibility with the audience. In this movie the lead character has some kind of unflattering details revealed about his life so that we can be more sympathetic towards him later. In my eyes that really diminishes the potential power of the film.

A very good film about an upsetting true event.

Michael B. Jordan (Oscar) nails it in the lead role, he gives an impressive portrayal. There are a few other good performances, the most notable to me being from the excellent Octavia Spencer (Wanda) - yet to see a bad showing from her. Melonie Diaz (Sophina) is notable, too.

The story is told in a straightforward but still highly meaningful way, there are a couple of times where you could argue it's too on the nose but even then it still gave me that dreadful feeling in the pit of my stomach. The ending, meanwhile, is tough to forget due to Spencer's performance.

'Fruitvale Station' is well worth a watch.

This film like Detroit is very important and I urge people to watch it, Michael B. Jordan gives a break through performance which shows that he is a force to be reckon with in the acting world and the story of his character is so sad as this true story shows a character that has been trying to turn his life around get everything taken away from him.

Just like Detroit it is a true story that talks about police brutality and how black people are treated in America, it’s not a film I would watch again as it made me feel so sad at the end but this is a must see and though it is difficult to watch I recommend it big time.

It's sad that this is still so relevant today. Michael B. Jordan is fantastic. This being Ryan Coogler's first movie is pretty impressive.
