This could very well be a prequel to a movie about a serial killer.

The original movie was bleak and violent; Sobel's movie is softer in approach. This isn't necessarily a bad thing but you won't get the same emotional experience with this one.

So people are not liking this because they've watched the original and think it's better

I just think they want to brag that they've watched the original It's becoming a trend "oh it's just an unnecessary remake" or "it's not as good as the book"

Well, I don't care if it had an original or a book or a true a story. A movie should be judged as a standalone movie

It's good, for people who love the creepy thriller genre I'd say go and watch it, don't give a damn about complainers

By the way, even the kids did some good acting & the director successfully managed to bring the desired creepy atmosphere.

Naomi Watts is the queen of American remakes.

[Prime Video] The attempt not to be an exact copy of the original film is interesting, but what was subtle in that film becomes too obvious here, establishing a tricky look around the brothers, which in some moments is more reminiscent of "The good son" (1993). This need to simplify the story ends up justifying how unnecessary this remake is, because it does not enrich but rather impoverishes the original proposal.

Watched the original about a year ago and it's pretty much the same movie but there's a few tweaks. Not quite enough for it to have a reason for existing except for people that hate subtitles. Naomi Watts does a much better version of Mother but I prefer the other version of the twins. A remake we didn't need but it was worth it because of Naomi Watts. She's good at doing remakes as proven with Funny Games.

I liked it. And yes, I have not watched the original, but as a movie I think it stands for itself. It is a good thriller that made me wonder what was happening until the last minutes when I got it, so it is not predictable nor absurdly unpredictable.

To slow but just interesting enough keep me watching until the end.
Sometimes the ending makes up for a slow, almost boring movie.
Sadly this is not one of those times.

didn't watch the original one, but this was very predictable and very forgetable. Naomi watts was great but one actress doing a good performance is not enough to carry the whole movie...

worth watching for naomi watts alone, though the twins are pretty good actors for their age and i enjoyed them. i haven't seen the original but it's been on my to watch list for a while and this makes me want to see it even more.

I had no knowledge of the previous movie, but found this enjoyable enough. The problem is that it's predictable. It's too easy to guess what is happening with the twins, Mother's anger gives it a away - what was supposed to be a reason for fear is actually a big hint.

I was going to give it a 5 but the final twist was actually awesome so I'll give it a 7. the acting is also really good. worth a watch for sure

great performance by the actors but the script and story fell short in my opinion.
