Every cast member played there part flawlessly. Well written and produced with lots of life messages depending on were you from in life. I gave it a high 9 because the movie caught everything while telling it's story to the very end. Just my opinion. I guest you can tell I like it. :
This was such a sad movie. “Wait, what!?” some will say, but these 3 kids are only guilty of being born into bad circumstances.
This isn’t about “3 violent kids who face no consequences”, it’s about 3 kids who’ve already given up on life since they’ve known nothing but pain, abuse and mental illness.
Plenty of scenes all 3 showed expressions of “why did this happen to me?” Every time there was a flashback to when they were young.
We’ll acted, thin story and in some spots it seemed they were filling time, even though it was a short movie.
Nothing wrong with Amber Heards role, I’m guessing those comments are “post-trial” comments.
I gave it a strong 7 and if you can look past the senseless violence and understand what’s really going on with damaged characters, it’s a solid watch.
Story sucked... Was going to give it a 4 stars, when I saw Amber Heard lowered two more stars.
I generally like movies like this. I gave it an 8 but probably more like a 7.5. If you don't understand the Terrance Howard character early on then you'll probably go much lower. Telling you beforehand you really have to listen to his character the whole movie is almost a pre-requisite for the movie to make sense since it jumps around a lot.
Amber Heard plays a slutty stripper well which is about all she can do, so she doesn't ruin the movie. Another comment says she's too young for the role. Same here but then she's like 28 and the kid is 16 which would mean she was 14 when she got knocked up. It kinda gee-has looking at it that way. Fortunately her part is minimum.
Some of it came off as cliche, but isn't that problem in our society still? We are reduced to stereotypes and anything that bucks those stereotypes just means we get pushed harder to conform to them, whether they fit us or not.
Honestly the movie left me hoping Jesse finds himself again, finds his inner and outer Eric. I don't want to get into a spoiler, so I'll leave that there. But it leaves you wanting to write your own ending, another 20 minutes, which would ruin it. The hope or lack thereof is left up to the viewer. That's definitely why I rounded up to 8 instead of down to 7. Your takeaway is going to be yours and yours alone.
A good movie for the most part with excellent performances from the very talented cast.

What a stupid movie. I'm not even going to hide spoilers here, because I'm HOPING that after seeing spoilers, people won't waste their time with this movie.
These three teens are going around doing heinous shit (robbing drug dealers, stealing cars, beating people to near death, ACTUALLY shooting and killing a guy, etc.) and there's not a SINGLE consequence for the entire first hour of the movie; completely unrealistic.
Who the hell decided that Amber Heard was old enough to be the mother of a 16-18 year old?? I swear to you, I thought she was Nicky's girlfriend in the beginning of the movie, and not his mom. You couldn't have found someone a BIT older looking for that role?
Terrance Howard. Do I even NEED to comment on this ridiculous/useless character? Terrance, were you looking for some kind of 'range' role? Why did you even agree to this role? They never explain his character (not even once), he's just the 'random homeless crazy bum' that shows up everywhere, ATTEMPTS to say profound things (to himself, of course), with no direct, nor indirect, correlation to the characters.
I honestly think the director/writer tried a bit too hard to make this movie seem 'artistic' (I guess?). They tried to work backwards, and they actually got that part right :clap_tone3:... but they completely ruined the middle/body of the movie. By the time I got to the ending, I no longer cared, nor had any remaining interest, due to the fact that they couldn't hold my interest for the bulk of the movie.
It's like the director saw the movie, "Moonlight", and decided, "Yeah, I can do something like that". No.
(...and I'm not even a big fan of Moonlight, to be honest, but this is much worse). Don't think for a second that I don't see the attempt from the director (believe me, I get it), but it just misses the mark so hard, and in so many different aspects, that I can't forgive it. I can overlook one or two minor details, but this is just chocked full of inconsistencies.
Jonathon Majors' character and acting was the only saving grace, in a movie that couldn't be salvaged. :person_shrugging_tone3:♂
