In the beginning I really didn't like it and found it overrated. I've never really been drawn to those movies about small towns in the US or whatever. However, after watching it and reading a bit about it, I must admit that it wasn't all that awful. Maybe I was too harsh with my first judgement, and after letting the movie sink in I've come to the conclusion that I might have been to caught up in the ugliness of it all to appreciate it.
I appreciated the way the movie was cut and overdramatised, making it more interesting.
Remember growing up and avoiding the poor kids who happened to be sickos? They carried weapons and caused trouble and never said one thing interesting? Apparently watching a movies about the boring and brain dead is interesting. It's art. Apparently having no plot only enhances the movie. Movies don't need plot. Groundbreaking stuff. I'd never have known people like this existed until this movie.
Pretentious edgy teen the movie. When you want to believe things are deeper then they are and you want to get it. Weird = art. If you want a movie to name drop to impress arty farty types then here you are.
