Hosts 2020

[Sitges FF] In the first half hour we expect a hit that will take us out of boredom, until the scene that marks the beginning of what is expected. This "home invasion" promises more than it offers. It tries to reflect on the family (its lies and secrets), using external elements that deconstruct the apparent happiness. But neither the depth is so interesting, nor the performings contribute to its supposed complexity.

Generally bad-ass and, at parts, creepy. Characters could have used more fleshing out, though as they were boring.

A Christmas dinner goes terribly wrong when two of the family members are secretly possessed by evil spirits.

Xmas home invasion horror with supernatural elements. The first 30 minutes are a bit hard to get through but it's all building up to a badass shocking moments. Nothing succeeding that moment really surpasses or equals it unfortunately. The violence is graphic and the gore is grotesque and fairly well-made. It's often cringe and laughable (mostly due to the villains and their weird glowing cat eyes) but there are a few exceptions of actual scary and tense parts.

The ending made me want to know more but the third act was missing a bit of a punch. Worth checking out if you're out of holiday horror to watch.

Thrilling and brutal but no substance. Start off really strong, the acting was really good actually. After the dining table scene, it turned into major yawn. There's this one scene that was a bit too similar to Us movie, but failed to deliver the same level of suspense. The gore was pretty decent.
