The summer nights might be hot but this movie is lukewarm. A good cast, but there is nothing new in the story.
Was hoping for more out of Chalamet and A24 teaming up but overall decent movie although the movie dosen't seem to be sure on what it wants to be or what it's message is.
Hot Summer People
Two romance stories in the middle of a hurricane and a drug dealing complication. There's all sorts of tension be it romantic, dramatic or thriller-y but I preferred it when it was romantic that's when the movie's at it's best. Some brutal violence I didn't see coming at all, great song choices throughout, aesthetically pleasing and the voiceover works like magic. The performances are all great, especially Timothée Chalamet he really excelled in body language facial expressions and the chemistry with Maika Monroe is palpable. I enjoyed the first half a lot more than the second, don't really like what it turned into. Third act didn't do much for me. A bit too dramatic and over-the-top for what the movie used to be in the first half.
Decent movie overall even if it doesn't quite stick the landing ...
I honestly liked this movie. It goes pretty much how you expect, it's easy to follow and understand, and it's got the whole summer theme mixed in with a story that quickly goes from light to heavy in one snort.
Good complicated relation between the cast, it's confusing for me about which one I should sympathize
This movie have an amazing soundtrack and editing.

The voice over and story telling style reminded me of The Sandlot, but with a Breaking Bad hook and a summer love twist. While punchy and quirky in it's opening act, Hot Summer Nights pumps the brakes a little too hard through the middle into the finale, but brings it home with a fitting dark and ambiguous conclusion that makes for an overall exceptional summer flick.
