One of the worst movies I've seen and that says something because I usually like moves that a lot think are bad. Couldn't even finish watching this movie.
'Kidnap' is about a single, divorced mother named Karla who struggles to take care of herself and her young son Frankie. One day, Karla decides to take Frankie out to an amusement park, where she takes a phone call for a few minutes and returns to notice her child being abducted.
-The movie had a very slow, poorly acted opening. Not to mention the horribly cheesy and terribly long montage of baby photographs of Frankie, that seems so out of place in a thriller movie. The kidnappers are an older white male and female couple who's acting is extremely hysterical. It was so bad, at points it made me cringe.
-Middle I could say the action got better, however, the action scenes were poorly edited and the acting continued to be horrible. I felt like I was watching 45 minutes of Halle Berry screaming over and over again and watching her drive with really intense music, though there was really no intense scene happening. There were also a bunch of really irrelevant scenes that were used in order to spice up the action but failed terribly.
-The ending was easily predicted and devastatingly nothing new. Mother calls the police (who say will arrive in 15 mins), she accomplishes to beat the kidnappers, she finds her child, and the police arrives to have their job finished. The police arrival is additionally the most over exaggerated scene I have EVER watched. They arrive late and a helicopter arrives with searching lights and like 4 different polices cars rushing in as if they'd been rushing the whole time, when in real life, they probably took like 30-40 minutes to arrive when they said it would be 7-15.
A variety of questions were unanswered, the plot was never explained. I have no idea why these people kidnapped children, what their intentions were, and who the fuck that neighbour, in the end, was in relationship to the kidnappers.
Would I say that I wasted my time watching this film? No. It certainly was bad, however, it wouldn't hurt to watch it once if you have the time. Would I ever watch it again? No.
What a stupid bitch. This dumb bitch can’t make a good decision to save her own kids life
"Kidnap" delivers more laughter than thrills.
The unintentional comedy mostly comes from the terrible camera work and that horrible rap song at the end. I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
But I'm glad an Oscar winner like Halle Berry is in "Kingsman: The Golden Circle" next. I mean, it's not going to save her whole career, but at least it's an actual movie and no "Kidnap" or "Catwomen". It's been awhile since she's been in anything that's worth calling "good".
Dumb movie. It was bad..
ok the people who are saying that this is a typical kidnap movie are so off. it was a tip of the seat and sweatie handpalms movie. absolutely worth it and yes... there were a few moments that u say: oh come on! just do this or do that. but thats just common sence for a viewer. u dont know what you would do in a situation like that...
Typical kidnap movie. There were a bunch of obvious scenarios and dumb moments that made this movie pretty laughable.
Yeah.. not a new idea but this film gives you the kick from the start, always on the move on the right roads, keeps you on the edge and always wanting to know what happens next and It's packed with lots of action and a very overdrive mother that you shouldn't mess with. I must say a super performance from (Halle Berry) I've seen her In some good films but her performance hasn't kidnapped me like this since (Gothika)
Better than expected, this had me on the edge of my seat at times. Occasionally implausible, but as another reviewer stated, who knows what we would do if we were in this situation.
What a gem. Almost passed on this one but glad I watched. It is edge of your seat action suspense. It would get very stressful to watch at times, particularly for parents. Had me sweating :). I doubt it is something to watch a second time but is a must watch.
Talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique
not a bad movie.
a few strange and unlogical actions from mother's (H. Berry) side (specialy when she had opportunity to run over kidnaper) but overall its a solid movie.
7/10
Saw the trailer and i thought i would like it, and i did! This is a very good movie, Halle Berry is amazing on this one! Geez! It makes you stay on the edge of your seat thinking "what the hell is gonna happen now?!?". I totally recommend.
Storm has mutant son, Sprinkles, stolen by honeybooboo's parents
Nice idea but a very poor execution. Don't waste your time

This isn't a movie where the kidnappers outsmart the "hero"
This is the movie where both the kidnappers and the hero made decisions stupid enough to make the action long enough to e vale a movie
Overall, you can easily skip this one, it's painfull to watch
Oh yes!! I enjoyed watching this a lot. Edge of the seat thriller and Halle Berry was so badass!
Kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. Reminded me slightly of Halle Berry's other film "The Call." Very well made, great acting, lots of action, and very tense...
What a bullshit movie. Her actions, illogical decisions and constant screaming annoyed me from start to finish.
Except for the 10 seconds of a car's baggage door kissing a tree, another 10 seconds of the lower left rear side of a van, a total of 30 seconds of yellow road lines and couple more who-pressed-the-pause-button shots it's quite a great thriller.
Watched this for the Flophouse and I'm with them....I enjoyed this a helluva lot more than I thought I would. Legit thriller and Berry was great!
Includes all the movie cliches you can imagine; Dead battery, run out of fuel etc, you name it.
Woah! What a movie is this!
There have been far better films of this ilk (Breakdown) and Halle Berry explaining the plot and her motives to camera every two or three minutes quickly becomes very wearing. The first ten minutes are so overly sweet and saccharine that its more of a relief than a tense moment when the kidnapping takes place. Thankfully the film is quite short but any tension the film is trying to build is constantly broken by treating its audience like idiots
A fair kidnapping movie, with an excellent performance from Halley Berry. The movie sets the scene by introducing the main characters with an emotionally engaging back story. What follows is the mother repeatedly does things that defy any logic from the moment of kidnapping to the end, and misses countless opportunities to disable the kidnappers vehicle or person, she somehow pulls it off.
As a bonus, because of restrained language and no sex, it's a good movie for kids to watch to learn a bit of fear of kidnappers.
one star movie intense with emotional expression yet so plain
Didn't know much about it and only entered this at the cinema because my first three choices were fully booked, but I was pleasantly surprised with how much I truly enjoyed it. Very intense, very exciting, and quite heartbreaking at times. Plus, not many actors out there can singlehandedly carry a movie on their shoulder. Halle is magnificent here.
Loved it! There were times that I wised she was smarter but hey, it's a movie :D it can't be perfect hahaha :D I mean, no one would do the right things while being in the same situation as her. Halle Berry was amazing in this movie and she was on many previous ones. I'm really hoping to see more like this one :)
Pretty good kidnap show, kinda like 'Taken' but juz minimal gun fights, minimal survival skills and a very determined mother who refuses to give up. I also like the fact that there's very little collateral damage compared to some other shows that makes it feel like their life is worth more than others, juz coz it's their movie XD Halle even sacrificed herself to prevent a girl's death. Overall, pretty a pretty good show, but one thing that makes me wonder.. Who was the mastermind behind all the kidnapping?
It was the average typical movie that includes kidnapping. Lots of pursuit/action. It's a fun movie. Amusing. Not that bad. But it could've been better.

Excellent edge of your seat thriller. Halle Berry is superb. No thinking needed, just pure action
