La Forêt de mon père / Into Dad's Woods is another melodrama about the effect a mentally ill parent has on his children. Unfortunately, the role of the troubled father is too much for the leading man and we feel the director's hand in every melodramatic turn of the actors' heads.
A shame, really, because, at 16, Léonie Souchaud is putting on her big girl shoes and stepping out of the child roles that launched her career and into more mature parts... and is doing so with a grace and talent that make her a rising star to keep an eye on.
