a one man show in a weak Movie.
Very good movie but amazing perfomances for Tom Hardy 7.6/10
Hardy was a master at playing two characters. I'm not really a fan of gangster movies, but I really enjoyed this one. I do recommend this movie to any Tom Hardy fan.
Sum it up with one word "AWESOME"
it was weird to see Tom Hardylike that but he was amazing.
This movie starts out strong but about 45 minutes in falls flat. The dialog between the Kray brothers (Hardy and himself) is the best, but at a certain point, you just start asking yourself, "what's the point? Where is this going?" Then it falls into a typical "my beloved committed suicide for what I have become" cliché.
Tom Hardy was so good in this one, it definitely felt like two entirely different people playing the Krays. Pretty much everything else in the film was mediocre. I still enjoyed it however and I think Hardy's performance alone bumps it up an extra point or two.
tom hardy’s acting range in this film is incredible and that scene where he fights himself .... ! the title is correct he is a legend !
one of my all time favorite movies, Tom Hardy is sooo good in this movie, both as Ron and Reggie, loved it a lot the first time i watched it years ago, and even more now on a second re-watch
I was begging Reggie to put Ronald down the second Ronald did whatever he did to Frances. But I understand he simply couldn't do it to his brother. This IS a true story after all... RIP Frances.
I really enjoyed this movie, its worth noting its a true story.
The English are a plague upon the world. Legend is a torpid snoozefest! So boring, uninspired, clichéd, it holds no charm at all. It seems like it was made in a lab because it's so safe and unexciting. How did they manage to make this so tedious?? There is no clear plot, and on top of that it contains some of the most dull and on the nose voice over I've seen. The characters are nonsensical and aren't interesting. Any energy it has it focused on Tom Hardy overemphasizing the distinction between the two twins. The movie has not one but two disappointing performances from Hardy. Actually, felt like no one cared, everyone just doing it for a paycheck. I lasted almost 40 minutes!
The casting in this movie was excellent. Tom Hardy did an amazing job in both roles. Told from the perspective of Reggie's wife Frances I think that this might be why so much of the violence was left out. Ron was portrayed more as your creepy gay uncle instead of the psychopath that he likely was. 'Twas interesting but not great.
Promising setting at first. The rest is just mediocre.
this felt disjointed and flat, not gonna lie. with some questionable character choices and an underwhelming ending.
When I first read about this film, I automatically took it like they had ripped off the movie title from the Ridley Scott fantasy classic. A friend of mine brought it up recently so I decided to check it out. The highlight for me was Tom Hardy playing as twin brothers who are gangsters in this sort of 50s noir settings. It seemed at some parts he's trying so hard that it looked and sounded ridiculous with his accent, haha. But I do like the technique they did to appear as there are two of him in the frame, perhaps with double exposure(?) and/or stunt double. That part reminded me of other past films that have done this such as Double Impact (1991) with Van Damme, or Multiplicity (1996) with Michael Keaton, and one I rewatched recently called Doppelganger (2003). But the story, setting and characters made me think of films like The Great Gatsby (2013) with Leonardo DiCaprio, and Public Enemies (2009) with Johnny Depp. Of course I remember Emily Browning from Sucker Punch (2011) and Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events (2004). The drama arc is rather very minimal. The music selection is very nice though, almost as if they tried to cram as much of the good oldies as they can every chance they can get within the two-hour film length. Kray Kray
Would have loved to have given this a better rating, unfortunately I found the story itself to be pretty basic and not a lot really happened when I look back on it. Luckily Tom Hardy does such an incredible job here that it makes it a watchable film, I think without him it really would have fallen flat. Can't deny that Emily Browning did a decent job too. - 7/10
Need more like this 5* movie and one man show made it that better
This gangster is so stupid compared to the real one, italian one. For this reason the don't creat an empire like mafia, camorra, triade, yakuzza and so on...
Good acting but the story was so boring I fell a sleep and I tried to rewatch it and I still fell asleep
Tom Hardy gives two excellent performances
enjoyable and one man show was as expected amazing . tom hardy the best
One actor. Two roles. Tom Hardy is brilliant as both Kray twins with a stellar performance
Crime and corruption are a tale as old as time itself. Eventually even the most unassailable of societies figures will tumble. As shown here, one mistake - a failed murder - was all it took to loosen the tongue of a trusted gang member.
This film serves as a window into the past with a convincing portrait of life in '60s East End London. When not watching the Krays in action you can marvel at the cars, clothing, music and buildings of the day.
A few inconsistencies in the facts {although this isn't supposed to be a truthful film...}; although Ronnie states he is Homosexual in the film, he is known to be Bisexual - and - it was also apparently disclosed by Reggie himself that France's death was not in fact suicide but by the hands of his jealous brother.
Definitely not the best gangsters movie, still watchable, but I have to say that's because of Tom Hardy, great work, that's what made the movie interesting.
almost forgot that it's only Tom Hardy who's playing two separate roles brilliantly armed with cheeky lines & funny comebacks
I'm very surprised that Peteringham7 who asked a question on this movie has not received a reply nearly 4 weeks after posting, I too would like to know how I can play this film ???????

OMFG THIS MOVIE IS AMAZING. Sorry but I adored this film! Be aware: It is a biopic, do not go into this expecting something different. So yes, it has pacing issues and is a little long but that can't really be helped. But those issues are nothing compared to how slamming this movie is.
I've seen it twice already, it's been out in Australia for 2 weeks. In saying that I recommend a second viewing lets you pick up lots of little elements you may have missed the first time, subtle foreshadowing and commentary.
Now onto the important stuff! Tom Hardy is genius, actually genius. He said in an interview recently that he preferred playing Ronnie (the twin with glasses) and I am so happy he did because Ronnie was played spectacularly. He was by far the most interesting and complex character . Reggie was brilliant too however Ron's depth of character and surprising humor was flat out amazing. Emily Browning surprised me, I didn't hate her as much as I thought I would. In saying that I didn't really enjoy her character either. I believe her acting was a little to subtle as her character has a little flat. This is probably just me but Taron Egerton was great, I love the kid and he is going onto to do amazing work but in this film Mad Teddy was to die for. Hilarious and well-rounded. On the topic of Teddy he story line with Ronnie was very well handled. I was scared they would brush over it as is quite common and just stick to alluding. Whilst nothing was show I felt it received the same treatment as other story lines. That's my slightly confusing way of avoiding spoilers.
Had a great soundtrack and a beautiful screenplay. Seriously, just the construction of sentences and dialogue was perfection. As always for my favorite films I'll leave you a quote of this film, hopefully to entice you to watch it.
"It took a lot of love for me to hate him the way I do"
