Adapted from the hit ‘50s television series, Maverick is a fun and exciting western from director Richard Donner. On his way to the All River’s Draw Poker Championship professional card player Bret Maverick gets into a series of misadventures while trying to collect the last three thousand dollars of his entry fee. Starring Mel Gibson, Jodie Foster, Alfred Molina, and James Garner, the film has a great cast that delivers some really good performances. And the comedy is lighthearted and campy in all the right ways (without being too cute or slapsticky). Also, the fight scenes and chases are energetic and action-packed. A film that the whole family can enjoy, Maverick is entertaining and delivers a lot of laughs.
Hard to know which makes me feel older - watching Westerns, or watching a time when Mel Gibson was known for being a good actor.
This was a fun old movie, and I feel bad to say I quite enjoyed as brainless entertainment
This Western is pure entertainment.
i wasnt meant to really watch it at the beginning but half way through and im hooked, mel and jodie's chemistry is fantastic in this film it's hilarious
Lots of fun. A little too sweet and wholesome, but it's just too charming to not have fun. Even if the music is corny and dated. Great cast, and that cameo is too awesome.
Richard Donner sure knows how to make an entertaining movie!

Full of a lot of gambling, cons, twists and double crosses. The cast makes it a lot of fun as well.
