this film moved me a lot. It has the right dosage of humor, art and sentiment. The cast is perfect. Best movie of 2015 so far
Touching story, deep script and a little humour. I loved they take on old classic movies, like the Sock Work Orange. ha
A good film with a nice balance of humour and sentiment. There is a sense of honesty in the characters that ensures the film never becomes too mushy.
Thomas Mann does a great Werner Herzog impression too.
Awesome movie. Kept me from the beginning to the very end.
At first i thought this movie was too over the top and goofy, i after some time i started to appreiate it and how it complimented the personalities of the main characters. By the end i admit i cried a little, and had to take a moment to compose myself, really good story. totally recommend
This film is great. Really touched me.
It's nothing like The Fault in Our Stars
this movie > the fault in our stars
Good indie/sundace movie with a lot cool animations and parodies, hard story line and the ending leaves a great life message.
One of my favorites of 2015! Really good acting with great humour. The friendship between this youth is breathtaking and touching.
different movie ... you can't categorize it in any category you know .... the frames are different the characters had a not familiar style as the other movies, soundtracks are totally matching with the storyboard .... anyway this movie was a different experience for me .....
This film was about the sentimental, yet short journey of two, new friends. They each found a way to break down the other's walls, and enjoy a true friendship built on openness, vulnerability, and truth. It was an impactful film with tremendous performances from the cast. It's incredible what we can learn by listening to others, especially those who have developed an introspection only the dying are able to muster.
Why do so many films make people fall in love and then die
This is quite a shameless Wes Anderson rip-off: the symmetrical shots, whip pans, deadpan & quirky delivery, self-aware title cards, classic rock & baroque instrumentation and protagonist suffering from a vague sense of ennui; its main point of reference (Rushmore) is a little too obvious. Visually this is pretty impressive for a first time feature director, but it completely pales in comparison to Wes’ vibrant imagery. I struggle with the question of how much weight this should carry in regards to my overall feelings on it, considering there are a ton of studio comedies that stylistically don’t even try. At the very least you get a good looking tracking shot in here occasionally, or scenes play out entirely in a wide shot. Setting that issue aside for a second, I was still charmed by a lot of this. The characters are very well drawn and unique, it’s both heartwarming and heartbreaking, the darker themes add emotional depth to the story, most of the jokes land and the performances are all very solid. The script has more than enough ideas to keep the audience hooked from beginning to end (love the filmmaking bits), but I just wish the overall vision felt less pastiche, and maybe it could’ve used a couple more standout moments.
6.5/10
Beautifully created good story telling... One of the movies that leave you with joy and sadness
Sad, off-beat coming-of-age story about an awkward senior's friendship with a girl diagnosed with leukemia. It's heartfelt but not saccharin; more is left of basis than said in each scene. Good screenplay. The lead actor gets it just right too - immensely believable. The Earl character could be more developed though. I would definitely recommend and watch again one day.
this movie i watched it at 6am next to my sleepy brothers and by the end of it i was crying like a little baby. this movie was amazing and very well done!
esse filme é incrível, assisti ele a um tempo atrás e não me arrependo, tem uma historia fantástica.
I laughed. I cried. I laughed and cried simultaneously.
This movie is the whole package.
I really liked this film is diferent way to tell the story of a cancer situation, totally recomenden 9/10
This movie is very sad but it made me happy and laugh a few times. The cinematography is great. The music is wonderful. The performances are all good. The parody of famous films is really funny and I would like to watch all of them.
A really funny, touching and entertaining coming-of-age film. Very underrated.

It was different in a way that it makes you think beyond the runtime of the movie. with so many teen high school centric this one not only stands out but also stays in your heart. there was humor, sadness and most of all characters who aren't xerox churned copies fitting stereotypes but real characters. which make you feel for them as a person. as someone who'd come to know of this movie through a YouTube recommendation for young adult movies. I'd say it reminded of perks of being a wallflower in the way the ending was simple yet so impactful and thought provoking. a true work of art which I watched it without feeling the minutes tick by and pleased till the absolute end to the point I was sad to see it end and wanted more.
7..6/10 another touching story and great perfomances!
I loved the fault in our stars but this movie was a bit bad, didn't like it, very slow and boring
Great mix of drama and comedy, this movie touched me a lot.
I can't think of any movie better then this in 2015.

The style of this film is honestly the main thing I like about this film. But essentially that covers a lot of ground if we simply split a film into style and substance; the boundaries of which blur as each affects and is affected by the other.
As another reviewer mentioned, the essence of the style feels Wes Anderson-esque but set in a more modern, realistic world. I for one, extremely enjoyed this in the framing, camerawork, character styles, editing and story structure.
One thing I'm not sure about was the character of Earl. But as I think about it, maybe it's just because he wasn't the type of character I was expecting.
I can see why people wouldn't like this film but that's exactly why I do like this film. It's like someone who's unapologetically themselves - can't please everyone.
