"Our media is no more truthful than yours, American."
I feel like this is the one that gave life back to the series, and man did it do it well. Brad Bird killed it with this live action debut and I absolutely love that they didn't forget to have some fun with this one.
Brad Bird really nailed this spy thriller. The Dubai set piece is really fantastic and the highlight of the movie. Tom Cruise is just crazy with the stunts he does. Jeremy Renner is a good addition to the cast and giving more screen time to Simon Pegg is always a good idea. I just wish we had more Ving Rhames.
Worst MI ever.
After JJ Abrams’ impossible rescue mission on this franchise in 2006, Brad Bird gets to direct fourth film in the run. It’s an interesting one; in 2006 the IMF gadgetry seemed like movie magic. One year later the iPhone came out and it set the ball rolling on a whole new world of pocket computers as powerful as full-sized ones and seamless wireless access to the internet from almost anywhere in the world. The every-man now has all the cool shit Ethan Hunt had in 1996.
It’s not about what you’ve got though, it’s how you use it, and here the crew get up to some pretty bad-ass hi jinks in Dubai. I liked it the first time and the stuff in the desert definitely holds up to a second viewing. Lea Seydoux matches Seymour Hoffman like for like on the scariness scale but sadly they kill her off way too soon.
It wouldn’t be such a bad thing but the actual villain seems to have no real motive for doing what he’s doing. That, along with the Jeremy Renner plot, does put the whole film on shaky ground. However, much like the last one, it’s a well made piece of spy fun propped up by good actors and stand out set pieces.
Bring on number five!

It is what it is... nothing more nothing less. Popcorn action movie, no brains needed for this. To be honest is hard to find a movies to fit this role these days but this one did it.
Afraid of heights?
Everything in the Burj Khalifa tower (Dubai) was top tier spy stuff, the elaborate meeting, the cool spy gadgets, the fights and Tom Cruise hanging in mid-air at 1700 feet—now that's an impossible mission! (at least for me). Sandstorm sequence that followed was intense and Mumbai looked amazing. Compared to the first three movies, Ghost Protocol has some real team work (Ethan, Jane, Benji and William) create some interesting dynamics. Simon Pegg really shines here, his character is lighthearted and comedic which creates a balance with Cruise's more serious character. Jeremy Renner is fine as an actor but his character is too simplistic and forgettable. Excellent score that always matches the country we're in (Mumbai one is my favorite), phenomenal stunt work, interesting story, grand set pieces and forgettable villain. Great ending. Best entry in the franchise yet!

Brad Bird directs this one and he does a great job. I really liked the film. The action scenes are amazing!
The cast is charismatic. Tom Cruise gives energy to the film as Ethan. Simon Pegg’s character has more to do now. I’m not the biggest fan of Jeremy Renner’s character, but he is ok even though. Paula Patton plays an agent that appears only in this film for some reason, I liked her. I expected more of Léa Seydoux’s character, she doesn’t do much.
The action scenes are great! They get better and better by each film.
That sequence where the mission takes place in Dubai is awesome. When Ethan has to climb the Burj Khalifa is breathtaking. Amazingly shot. These guys are insane, congrats to Tom Cruise for making these scenes even better. Wow.
When the CGI is used in a most apparent way, it not very good. I liked the set piece where we have a sandstorm coming though. Oh, and the big explosion on the Kremlin where Ethan tries to run from it although the bad CGI, it is still entertaining.
I enjoyed that they still use some key elements since first entry in the franchise: masks everywhere and some crazy gadgets. I like that they do not take itself too serious like the new 007 films. Good pacing as well.
The best one in the franchise so far for sure.
SPOILER ALERT!
-1 for self-destruct of missile HEAD which is no electronic part of nuclear missile.
After launch of missile You are no control of .
- 1 for intrusive product placement
I remember watching the first film and everyone going 'yeah, right! Like you can fly a helicopter down a tunnel'. This film is an unrelenting series of outrageous set pieces that battered me into submission rather than stimulating any interest. I enjoyed MI3, but this one left me cold.
I loved it! :) There is going to be M:I5 100% :D
If I had to sum up M:I IV in two words it would be "Mission: Accomplished", just like Ethan Hunt uttered towards the end of the film. Mission: Impossible IV Ghost Protocol was even more impressive then the last one, and the two before that; easily making it my favorite in the whole film franchise. Not only did it have a great story line plot, it was suspenseful, thrilling, and action packed. As with Mission: Impossible III you can definitely tell J.J. Abrams mark on the film; the dude knows how to make great movies.
Ethan Hunt is back again in Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol…the question is why? M:I-3 seemed to have tied the series up fairly well, but once again Hunt finds himself on another impossible mission to stop a rogue faction from launching a nuclear strike. The acting is pretty piss-poor (even by action film standards) and the special effects aren't much better. There are a few clever action sequences and some inventive high-tech devises, but the story is garbage. If not for Jeremy Renner and Simon Pegg this film would be a complete waste; but Renner and Pegg add a lot of energy to their scenes and keep the story moving. Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol is uninspired and halfhearted, but it still delivers a high adrenaline adventure (mindless as it may be).
Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol is another strong outing for the franchise, and is almost up to par with the third and first instalment.
Everything feels a bit more like Mission: Impossible should feel. Having an impossible mission. It takes more after the tv-series, which pleased me immensely, but still retains the feel that was established in the M: I 3.
The acting was great, but even though I love Simon Peg, the comic relief was rather mishandled. I doubt that was Peggs fault though...
Anyway...all-in-all a great spy thriller and worth watching even if you haven't seen the other instalments.
Even though it felt like the budget was like sliced into half it still entertained me to the fullest!
Love it. Good action flick.
This was a really fun movie. The action was incredible, tension was really well done. The entire climbing the outside of the building was so good, the fight in the car park was incredible. The sandstorm chase scene was brilliant. I think this is my favorite so far. I've been amazed by how much ive loved these movies.
This film is hell of a high-octane action packed adventure
So I watched this after watching Fallout.
Ghost Protocol is a good movie. The first half of the movie is great. Tom Cruise scaling the Burj Khalifa is the best scene in the movie. It gave me chills down my spine.
But the end of the movie felt kind of underwhelming. I expected much more action.
they only keep getting better and better, and there is incredible moments that leave you on the edge of your seat, literally.
Dubai scene is just. Legendary.
A great action movie with a bunch of interesting places like the Kremlin and the iconic Burj Khalifa scene.
I love the scene in the Kremlin where they use a screen to project the hallway and thus become sort of invisible, amazing gadget and lots of fun with Benji. This movie has just tons of amazing action scenes like the sandstorm scene and the Kremlin exploding.
I didn't care too much for Jeremy Renner's character although I was shocked again at his backstory. Paula Patton was a great addition and I wish Josh Holloway had a bigger role.
I was happy that Julie is still alive, she deserves a (sort of) happy ending and it was nice to see Ethan still checking up on her.
Great action movie. That digital wall gadget was super dope.
If all the MI films I’ve watched to this point ended up boring me around the second half, “Ghost Protocol” is the first to entertain me throughout, featuring impactful action sequences that skillfully push the boundaries of believability and amusing with a plethora of absurd gadgets you would expect in a Bond movie from the late 90s. However, I must confess the tone of the third film felt more balanced. The self-aware approach of “Ghost Protocol” can be delightful, but things sometimes tend to get a little too ludicrous, as you would expect in a Bond movie from the late 90s.
The writing is still a tragedy. The villain, in particular, had no presence nor clear motives, getting barely introduced through random archival footage. His appearances are so limited that even the terrible skit with the Indian billionaire received more screen time. In addition, many subplots end up being completely useless: I think about the Russian police, the female agent’s revenge story, or the dramatic potential of Jeremy Renner’s backstory getting brutally raped and annihilated in the ending. Even impactful sequences like the one in Dubai felt without a clear purpose: why put everything at risk by setting the meeting if they had to give out the real codes anyways? Couldn’t they just find an easy way to tail the villains afterward?
While the visual entertainment partially compensates for the flaws in the plot, the more I think about it, the lower my rating drops. It’s been too many times Ethan gets “hunted” (aha) for something he hasn’t done while the IMF is unable to operate or support him for whatever reason.
Like a stick of dynamite butt plug: explosive and enjoyable at the same time.
This Mission Impossible has it all and in the right proportions. Spy craft, gadgets, incredible set pieces, action, story... This is the Mission Impossible other Mission Impossibles dream of being when they grow up.
Doesn't happen often in a franchise where the next movie is actually better than previous installment. Just miss Ving Rhames in this one.
The action and the stunts are top notch but I feel a disconnect from the characters a bit. Everything is a bit too surface and there isn’t enough Ving Rhames. It’s better shot than MI:III but I like the feel of that movie more.
Here we have the MI franchise kicking it up another notch. Brad Bird’s cartoonish sensibilities from the Pixar days show up all over this film, and it’s a welcome addition. It’s the funniest installment of the franchise, which is probably a result of the extended role given to Simon Pegg. Jeremy Renner and Paula Patton are both given a lot of moments to shine as well. It’s also the moment where Mission Impossible truly became the quality popcorn franchise it’s known as today. No longer does it care about incorporating popular trends, instead it looks back to classic movies for inspiration. The set pieces are incredible, with the sequence in Dubai being the very clear highlight of the film. It knows how to build this sense of constantly escalating tension, and it uses every trick in the book to achieve that effect. Gadgets malfunction, new obstacles are constantly thrown at our protagonist, things rarely go as planned, etc. The camerawork is sleek & polished, Michael Giacchino’s score is excellent, the acting from the entire cast is solid, it’s clever and just the right amount of nutty. As for negatives, it kinda suffers from having a bland, unmemorable villain. Moreover, I think it would’ve been better if the story was structured in a way where it ends with the Dubai sequence. The section in India isn’t bad, but it feels like a comedown after the perfection that is the second act of this movie.
8/10
From "Ghost Protocol" on, the Mission Impossible film series really found its voice. The stunts were now much more elaborate and spectacular. Especially the entire sequence inside as well as outside the Burj Khalifa in Dubai stands out. However, the beginning in Moscow and the finale in India are also quite impressive. I also prefer the overall portrayal of main character Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise). He appears to be more fallible, which makes him much more likeable in general. The entire team effort also comes into focus.Aside from Cruise, Simon Pegg and Jeremy Renner are especially convincing. Only Paula Patton was less successful. Altogether, "Ghost Protocol" is a really strong film.
Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol is an excellent movie that delivers on both action and plot. The movie is filled with thrilling and well-executed action sequences that keep you on the edge of your seat. The plot is engaging and well-crafted, making it a perfect fit for the action-packed franchise. The movie's fast-paced storytelling and impressive stunts make for an enjoyable and thrilling watch.
Probably my favorite of the M:I films so far. Great story, great cast, great stunts, great ending... What's not to like?
I have some mixed feelings about this one. While in every technical aspect, Ghost Protocol has some market improvements over MI:III, especially when it comes to cinematography, It unfortunately does borrow some unnecessarily convoluted plot design from MI:II, which can make the film slightly confusing to follow at times. Thankfully, this doesn't prove too distracting, nor does it keep it from being equally as enjoyable as MI:III, if not moreso due to the stronger acting, more memorable and impressive fight scenes, and a return to both the roots of the original series in some respects (remember the show where the team didn't have any outside help and had to work on their own?) certainly allow this film to leave a positive impression in my mind.
Maybe Mission Impossible since part 4 is just a vehicle for Tom Cruise to pull off crazy stunts. Maybe you shouldn't watch his movies because of his religious affiliation.
But in fact, the action is too good and too wacky not to watch the movie.
One of the better MI instalments, and some incredible stunt work from Mr Cruise himself.
8/10.
It would have been nice if Josh Holloway had a bigger role. He owned the opening scene. This is probably the most like the tv show, next to the original movie.
Despite Tom of course having to show off and climb buildings again lol.
NOWHERE NEAR AS GOOD AS THE 3rd ONE WHICH IS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST ONE UP UNTIL NOW, I FOUND THIS ONE TO DRAG A LITTLE AND LOSE MOMENTUM AND STEAM TOWARDS THE END.
WHERE NUMBER 3 WAS KICK ASS ACTION FROM START TO FINISH WITH A FANTASTIC INTERESTING STORY.
This was wall-to-wall enjoyable from the first minute to the last. I don't know why this didn't get more hype. Best action movie in years.

I really enjoyed this even though it is a little predictable from time to time and of course it offers only pop-corn cinema! But hey, what do you expect?! Would definitively recommend it.
Absolute best of the MI series. Scene at the end is the clincher to a fast-paced story that works. #ShiftvW8
If you can't enjoy this ride then entertaining you is a mission: impossible.
Straight off the bat, Ghost Protocol is easily on par with the first MI movie and weirdly it was this movie that actually made me think that Jeremy Renner good give Matt Damon a run for his money in 'The Bourne Legacy'. This time the directing bat goes to Brad Bird (The Iron Giant, The Incredibles and the upcoming Tomorrowland). With some very clever and in some mind blowing action sequences we see Ethan Hunt and the team try to clear their names after a bomb detonates under the Kremlin. Simon Pegg (Shawn of the Dead, Paul, Star Trek Into Darkness) offers the comedy and honestly where most people think it's over done, I think the way Simon and Tom play off each other in the prison scene and throughout the movie, adds a little something to the feel of the film. Ghost Protocol offers pure escapism, action, gagdets and a laugh or two to anyone willing to give up 2hrs 12mins of there lives. Sit back and enjoy the rollercoaster which is Mission Impossible.
Awesome stuff!
The best mission impossible Sequel. Especially Simon Pegg as the nerdy hacker was great.
Total score: 8/10
This is exactly what you'd expect from a MI movie, its quite fun with lots of action and some intense exaggerated scenes. overall its a nice movie
best movie on series!!!!!
wow recommended!!!
excellent movie!! recommended.
Tom Cruise aka Connor Macleod. Always young.
Great movie, enjoyed it all the way through.
Had no expectations to this one whatsoever, so I got pleasantly suprised. Good action and an actual story to booth...not a very good one, but hey...it's Mission Impossible. One for the action junkies out there...
I love his music. (Giacchino's)
PS: Michael Giacchino is KING ;)
If been to the theater last week, payed 10 bugs for 2h of good entertainment and can't say that I regret it.
Just 2 things: The cold-war scenario is already used up a 100 times & I hated to see Josh Holloway (Sawyer) die in the first 5 minutes.
However... a great combination of action and fun!
Awesome Movie!!! Can't wait for MI 5

Really enjoyed this movie, good action and some very cool funny moments. Probably the best out out of the series so far (either this or the 1st, hard to pick without watching again).
