The foundation of the collection is the work of such masters of cinema as Kurosawa, Fellini, Bergman, Tarkovsky, Hitchcock, and Kubrick. Each film is presented uncut, in its original aspect ratio, as its maker intended it to be seen. To date, more than 150 filmmakers have made it into the collection.

This is a list of all films (main feature, extra featurette, making of, box-set meta entry, etc if it has a separate entry on trakt) released under Criterion Collection catalog, Essential Art House, Eclipse, Merchant Ivory collections etc. as DVD/BluRay. So far LaserDisc releases have not been included.

In 2015 TIFF organized its decennial poll of Critics, Programmers, Academics and Film Professionals asking 220 of them to name the top Canadian Films of all time. 399 films received votes, this list comprises the 134 films which received at least 3 votes.

Christmas films of the independent variety

Films de type « temps des Fêtes »; par là j’entends des films qui se déroulent durant le « temps des Fêtes » ou qui ont comme thématique le « temps des Fêtes », tsé : Noël, lutins, neige, traineau, décembre, et cetera... J’pense que tu comprends la cible. J’accepte, pour Sonja, des films qui ne se déroulent pas durant le « temps des Fêtes », mais qui s’écoutent pendant le « temps des Fêtes » (Damn you ciné-cadeau!), comme Les 12 travaux d’Astérix.

Je veux faire une programmation riche et diversifiée : des films d’ici comme d’ailleurs, d’hier à aujourd’hui, de qualité variable et de style varié (des « classiques », de l’horreur, des rom-com, des dessins animés, et cetera).

Seulement 24 de ceux çi seront sélectionné pour la shortlist, aka le calendrier de l'Avent cinématographique!
