My Summer of Love 2005

Kinda weird for Emily Blunt!

What an interesting story. I didn't like it one bit (except maybe the ending) but there were some funny moments.
The brother's story was really useless though.

It wasn't awful, it was acted well and I think they did exactly what they intended here, I just wish they intended to tell a little bit more interesting of a story than this. I was interested at first but then the movie sort of flatlined halfway in and in the end it just lacked a solid plot past "How did this summer turn out?" It was alright, just didn't go much of anywhere.

Emily Blunt stars in the British coming-of-age drama My Summer of Love. Loosely inspired by the novel of the same name, a working class girl named Mona, who feels alienated by her brother’s recent conversion to religion, befriends a rich girl named Tamsin who opens her up to art and culture. Blunt gives a strong performance, but her co-stars don’t bring much to the table. Also, the script is rather unfocused, and doesn’t seem to know where it’s going half the time (especially given the final twist). My Summer of Love is a rather typical rich/poor relationship film, except that it lacks a point.

Interesting to see early Pawel Pawlikowski directing a young Emily Blunt. It's a decent film with some lovely moments but nothing earth shattering.
