It is not a movie. It is a masterful machinery of human interactions and movements.
Shocking, revelatory movie–completely unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Not so much acted as choreographed, the whole movie was just this exquisite series of moments that captured a very particular malaise of modernism. The sets were sparse and beautiful, especially the incredible sequence set in the apartments. The sound design was amaaaazing–I watched this using my Airpods which really helped bring out small nuances and amplified a sense of immersion in this strange world. Loved this weird ass movie.

the brilliant and meticulously planned hustle and bustle of this city made me feel like in a silly lil zoo for humans.
This movie is atrocious.
It’s supposed to be a comedy but i didn’t laugh once. I was bored within minutes and stayed bored till the end.
This is a masterpiece? Yeah, the emperor’s new clothes are awesome too…

The sound design is incredible throughout.

I loved how Tati plays with the visuals (the perspective of the shots, the reflections) and especially the sounds. It's like a modern silent movie, but still as enjoyable because the scenes make sense without the need for dialogue. By removing the dialogues, you notice some (maybe exaggerated) everyday sounds that you would definitely miss.
This film makes you feel like you're watching the characters through their lives, just like sitting in a crowded road and looking at the people walking by. It finds interesting ways to look at modern life.
It clearly isn't an over-the-top american comedy, that tries to make you laugh all the time. Play Time has slow moments, but also hilarious ones of course. It's closer to art than entertainment.
