Bloody lovely.
A zombie outbreak has fallen upon the land in this reimagining of Jane Austen’s classic tale of the tangled relationships between lovers from different social classes in 19th century England. Feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet (Lily James) is a master of martial arts and weaponry and the handsome Mr. Darcy (Sam Riley) is a fierce zombie killer, yet the epitome of upper class prejudice. As the zombie outbreak intensifies, they must swallow their pride and join forces on the blood-soaked battlefield in order to conquer the undead once and for all.

The book was good, and so for ages I was looking forward to the movie. Maybe my high expectations ruined the movie for me..long, boring, mostly rubbish acting.

A couple of amusing scenes (like the fight scene that didn't have any zombie in it was a highlight). But watching PPZ felt more like a chore than enjoyment. Jane Austen would be rolling in her grave...is she is truly dead...

Finally, Jane Austen's classic novel presented in the way she always envisaged. The censors really were harsh on her most wonderful work of fiction.

Respectful of the source novel and with a fun and creepy zombie twist this is the film that will finally unite fans of classic literature and zombie geeks everywhere. Maybe. Its an enjoyable film and I doubt Jane Austen will rise from the grave in ravenous fury!

Well this was pretty ridiculous.

I wish:

  • They took Pride and Prejudice out of the title. Their rendition was pretty awful.
  • They wouldn't contradict themselves, especially when it comes to the female characters.
  • The cast was completely different. Other than Mr. Collins (played by Matt Smith), I hated the cast. There was no chemistry and the romances were absolutely horrendous. I don't think I've ever been so bored throughout a movie.

So 3 stars for scenery and Matt Smith (mostly for him - he can practically do no wrong).
