Prisoner's Daughter 2023

Very under rated movie. One of the better ones this year.

I've always said it's hardwickes world and we are living in it. If you don't believe me, then give this a go.

This is pulp cinema. The most cookie-cutter story telling with the same played out arcs we've seen over and over. You know the outcome of every thread of this movie; there is nothing of note to pull from or praise. Cox gives an effortless Cox performance and Beckinsale is alright as the struggling-to-make-ends-meet-mother trope she's forced to play here. It's just all very formulaic, and falls into that horrible middle ground where it's worse that it's so forgettable. Even when something is bad it's memorable, but this is just so, so vapid. Background viewing at best, streaming catalogue fodder at worst. Just don't waste your time with this one.

Incredibly formulaic. Its watchable but you have seen stories like this one a hundred times before.
