Ringing in October with a big watch through of Saw since apparently, somehow, the tenth one is not only good but arguably the best yet? This short has a lot of grungy charm that makes clear the potential of a full film but doesn’t do anything especially revelatory.
This is the short film by James Wan that started it all. A terrifying situation for David! That device was sick and twisted, the demonstration for it was enough to create tension. It uses a lot of green and blue (hospital medical colors) and it feels and looks dirty. As a short it's pretty good, essentially the blueprint of what every Saw entry is and what it's supposed to make you feel.
