Shock Waves 1977

The best part about "Shock Waves" is the opening narration. From there it's all downhill. If you're a fan of watching people wade through swamps and slog through mud, then this is the movie for you. I guess there is something creepy about the way that the swamp Nazis rise up out of the water together, but after they do it the first 20 times, it loses its effectiveness. This thing is boring. It was all I could do to stay awake. Actually, I'm pretty sure I passed out a couple of times, but I'm positive nothing happened while I was snoozing.

Peter Cushing is in this and it's sad because he must have needed the money...badly. Brooke Adams is the eye-candy and she is about the only watchable thing in the entire flick. I read that she turned down a role as one of the original "Charlie's Angels". I hope it wasn't because she was filming this at the time.

A more fright-less, bloodless Horror movie would be difficult to find.

Underrated. Good acting, atmosphere, good set up with the group of characters on an old, barely sea-worthy boat.

I’ve been watching zombie films trying to get through all the major ones, and compared to most of them, this was excellent. It’s kind of similar to Zombi (1979)[1] in some ways—I guess the nautical setting—and that film has a much better rating and a cult following, but in my opinion this one is better. Low budget and not much gore in this one, but it is a fairly solid story and I like the way it is told.

Great concept, poor execution! A remake could improve on this film's failings.

Here's every scary moment in the movie. Soon to be victim in foreground, water in background. Zombie nazi comes up from under the water. Sneaks up from behind. Dead.

I just saved you 90 minutes. You are welcome.

Can't believe this was Peter Cushing's follow up to STAR WARS!

Very well done atmospheric horror, but as a result of a lower budget most of the kills are done off screen with that sense of "lurking" always around the corner.

Fun little Grindhouse picture. Were these guys really the first to use Nazi Zombies...? Who knows. The sense of dread built up with the ghost ship near the beginning was well done.

I had no idea what to expect. A daft cliché idea turned out to be fun and effective.

The atmosphere, sound and imagery make for pleasurable sensory experience which was the stongest part of the movie by far. So it's a movie that has a feel to it.

The horror was suprisingly effective and timeless because water will always feel claustrophobic and the evasive hunter can always work if done right, which it was. Thanks Jaws.
The way those nazi zombies moved in the water was wonderful.

The negative was that the end did feel a bit cheap and rushed. A climax or twist would have done wonders.

Puts Dead Snow to shame. 6.5/10
