The most offensive movie I've ever seen. After a great first film and a near perfect sequel, what's next? Dog turds. Dog turds is next. It is so bad that I don't even consider it canon. If you are gonna do a Shrek marathon, please skip this movie. It isn't worth your time.
No where near as good as the first two but not terrible.
Don't give frogs death scenes. Don't let them go back and forth between dead and living with some dramatic last breath.
Don't do nightmares of oger babies, and waking up with Donkey Oger Baby saying "da da". It's not funny.
All this is is Prince Charming making a play where he kills Shrek to win everyone's respect, and him sabotaging Shrek's plans to win heir to the throne. And that's that.
None of the jokes are funny. None of the characters are love-able.
Snow White singing the immigrant song invented feminism
"Well, my stomach's aching and my palms just got sweaty. Must be a high school."
I really love Shrek and Shrek 2 but by the time Shrek the Third came along the magic seemed to slowly go away. It's not that it is boring or not funny at all but the magic from the first two entries in this franchise are slowly fading. We did get that amazing Snow White joke with her little dwarf present and I always love Puss and a singing Eddie Murphy never lets me down but the humor was not as inspired as in the first two?
Still, the animation looks more solid and the world of Shrek and especially Far Far Away kingdom is still solid but something felt lacking. Anyway I'm happy it wasn't a boring watch though! And now I'm wondering about my memory of the fourth one. I do remember like that one more! We'll see!
Saw the other 2 when they came out, decided to rewatch those and check out the third for the first time. I have to say this one packs in the most quick jokes, but it's just not as great of a story as the first two. The way they build jokes into the hit songs on the soundtrack is one of my favorite things. There are tons of subtle things that can easily go missed - I will probably eventually rewatch.
I always feel this is overwritten and little baggy without the wit and intelligence of the previous two films. Part of the problem is that the story with Artie (Justin Timberlake) never has the emotional impact it should, and the the chemistry between the characters isn't as strong as the first two films in the series. There are a few good laughs but it's a fairly mediocre film which is mostly redeemed by the feeling it leaves you with because of the final scene.
Justin Timberlake's voice work as Artie; a young King Arthur is totally irritating and a horrible addition. Artie is why I can barely get through this movie.
Shrek the 3rd is the most forgettable of the 4 films.
Not bad but not good either

Not nearly as funny as Shrek 2 but it had a number of moments that made me laugh. Puss, Pinnochio, and Gingerbread Boy continue to crack me up. If I were in control of this franchise I'd stop now, though.
