Well that was a little gem on its own rights. The story is not especially original, it's your standard run of the mill conspiracy political thriller featuring rich assholes backing corrupt politicians, disgruntled family members of the latter, washed out detective refusing to let go of the truth. You've seen this movie before. But the writing is rock solid, the cast of character entirely believable, and the actors do an excellent job (there are times that you would really like to punch Richard Dreyfuss below the belt) and the background decor well thought of. I'd missed that movie when it got released, but I sure I Sure am happy to have seen it now.
