Slumberland 2022

I LOVE PIG! So damn cute

Don't sleep on this one. Slumberland is a fun but emotion-filled journey about one girl's escape into the land of dreams to connect with her late father. It could have been cloying and sentimental but mercifully, it manages to hit just the right balance between tearjerker and enjoyable adventure fare.

A family-friendly fantasy adventure with fun characters and great looking CGI. Jason Momoa has charisma and looks like he's having a lot of fun he made me think of Jack Sparrow at times. Underneath it's childish façade are some heartfelt emotional moments dealing with grief, loss and loneliness - Marlow Barkley as Nemo was the perfect conductor for this she did great. Overall a fun time in the dreamworld filled with both dreams and nightmares.

Never knew Momoa could pull of the "Jack Sparrow" vibe. I'm sold.

I did not expect to cry so much in this movie.
in the sad, in the happy even in the bittersweet.
it was just amazing, and honestly did not expect half of it.

Oh, what a beautiful movie! <3 Also quite sad/lonely but the ending got my eyes wet and lifted the mood.

It was such a mix of sadness, loneliness, joy while often being funny and sweet.

I really liked the message of the movie. It's so relevant as it's so easy to get lost in dreams - especially today with all of the digital entertainment (games, movies, TV shows, social media, etc.). Personally, I often need to remember myself not too life too much in the digital world - it can be amazing but it isn't and shouldn't be everything :)

I also really liked this quote from Nemo (/ her dad): "Schools are basically prisons. They keep kids locked up physically and mentally, prepare them for jobs that are also basically prisons, until they retire and go to a nursing home. Their final prison."

Let's don't get stuck in any prisons and live our lives :)

A kid version of What Dreams May Come

The lighthouse shined on this one and the dreams were worth remembering, a film with a heart, great choice on cast that all did well and loved the effects and easy plot to follow that was well made and deep as the ocean at times.

One of the best family friendly movies I have seen in a very, very long time.

The kid isn't a PITA that you want to drop kick into a woodchipper. In fact, she is smart and responsible and acts like a human being.

The other characters are very well written and acted. They are smart and witty and aren't clueless idiots.

There is a great story and lots of emotion. There is fun and deeper meaning.

Best if all, it isn't trying to push a load of B.S. like so many other "family friendly" movies.

It really is an amazing movie. Too bad movies like this are so rare.

And Pig is the cutest sidekick in a long time.

Engaging escapism with a heart

Completely engaging from the start. A proper fantasy with a whole sprawling world and an epic journey which builds kinship and self belief.

The acting and storyline are great. Real character development and people you care about.

Cgi effects for the landscapes are on the whole fantastic. Occasionally on the faces the Cgi flopped for me but the target audience here is families and children /young adults. I think the whole production comes together to give engaging escapism so little flaws here and there can be forgiven.

The films crescendoes to some final thrilling scenes which are satisfying to watch. Recommend

I’m biased and love fantasy movies in general but this movie was great and a lovely wee sentimental story. Loved it xx

I'm not crying you're crying shut up :sob::sob:

This movie was so much better than I thought it'd be and it also raises a few questions.

Like Philip, I can't remember my dreams and I'm a lot like him personality wise. I wonder... I do prefer my dreams over my waking life, so maybe I just never came back and I'm still in Dreamland trying to find happiness and adventure. It's a nice thing to think about.

Fine family movie. Not too interesting for adults. Best part is that it's not filled with wokeness bs.

This was a really fun movie with great graphics and CGI. I would definitely keep this one as a go to, for when you have family and friends over. Awesome movie that’s good for stimulating the imagination.

A pretty easy watching family adventure film with a quality overarching message! While it won't be a favorite of mine that I return to often/ever, I do truly appreciate what this movie is and think it is very much worth watching!

Rating: 3/5 - 7.5/10 - Worth Watching

A kind and colorful fairy tale, it is good to watch it with children with the whole family, but it will not be boring for adults themselves. Interesting adventures in different dreams. The charming heroine will learn by herself, and maybe you, how to survive the loss and find friends. The fact that those whom we love are forever with us, as long as they are remembered.

An enjoyable children's fantasy, with a blend of delightful modern visual effects and classic, old school, adventure movie charm. Also, as someone else pointed out, it's like the children's version of "What Dreams May Come", in dissecting the depth of loss in a creative, yet relatable way.

I was surprised by this movie. I expected cutsie, but got sweet, cute, heartfelt and just a fun movie all around. For me "Pig" pretty much steals the show. Definitely a family friendly movie.

How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!

Pretty fun take on Little Nemo, especially with Momoa as Flip.

A successful family movie with a moral and an introduction to lucid dreaming. :)

This is what a Jack Sparrow played by Jason Momoa would look like.

Started watching without any expectations. Boy was I blown away. I loved the different scenes, the CGI was actually great and most of all I loved the story and the heart of the movie. Haven't seen that in quite some time!

I love Pig! And Momoa as "Jack Sparrow" was great! Lovely movie.

What an amazing family film, finally a movie on Netflix where you don’t feel like you’ve to skip to the end. Adventure all the way through, reminds me of Terabithia, very good and works for all ages! Comical too.

Kids movie. Go ahead and enjoy it with your family. If you're single, I would not recommend it.

This made me think of the Little Nemo cartoon us 80s kids are likely to remember from our childhood. https://trakt.tv/movies/little-nemo-adventures-in-slumberland-1989
I suppose this is an adaptation or remake if you will and worth the watch if you liked that. Still, don’t get too hung up on the original storyline and try to think of this as something new. :kissing_heart:
