Spring 2014

I absolutely adore everything about this film. It's a beautiful and down-to-earth exploration of love and morality. It keeps you engaged with what at first seems like a horror trope filled mystery, only to blossom into something much more profound. It has such a laid back, yet dangerous tone to it. Although the premise is interesting and unique, the highlight really is the characters. They feel really honest and the romance is not only charming in its own right, but it actually feels plausible. The effects are really great, some of the best I've seen in a low budget film. I highly recommend going into this film knowing absolutely nothing about the plot, because that will be quite the experience.

I just finished watching this about 10 minutes ago and thought I'd try writing down a few things while still fresh in my mind (for once). This is more of a Drama than Science Fiction or Horror. It's actually more of a love story than anything else and for as seldom as I watch them, I'd prefer that more be like this.

I kind of spoiled it for myself beforehand because I didn't want to believe a lot of the hype. The last thing I wanted to do was watch an overly pretentious, arty film, so I dug into the premise a bit more and in hindsight, I wished I hadn't. There are certainly some surprises here and while they aren't the greatest twists in movie history, I'd have rather gone in without knowing anything.

I thought the two main characters were charming and I liked the dialogue for the most part, but at times it got to be a bit much. Definitely worth watching and I can't believe most people wouldn't like this even if it isn't easy to place in a genre.

Truly beautiful film! I loved every second of it. I'm not usually interested in movies that have much romance in them, but upon a friend's recommendation I gave this a shot. And I'm so glad that I did. I absolutely adored the story, the actors, the cinematography . This film had me from beginning till end credits. A tip of the hat to team Benson/Moorehead for a job well done.

Benson is talented. He has his own style. I like The Endless. I think this movie is a little unfocused. From the start we get some great characters who don't really play any part in the story yet take up a lot of time. Like the endless this movie starts as one thing and drastically takes a turn. The turn in this movie was just less interesting to me.

This movie is simple, yet thought and emotionally provoking. After seeing it, i felt satisfied yet wanting more. Would recommend to anyone with spare time and a interest into the scifi

A troubled young man needing to escape local problems travels to Italy and finds love in the arms of a beautiful yet mysterious lady who is hiding a secret unlike anything ever seen. Spring is a fantastic tale of love mixed with some elements of the supernatural and a bit of body horror in a romantic Italian setting. Directed by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead who directed the 2012 film Resolution, Spring is a unique movie that is not easy to put into a single horror category as much of the film is not horror at all. What we see is a fascinating blend of Lovecraftian tropes that only make this film stand out more with its seemingly simple love story in a backdrop of a beautiful Italian landscape. To describe it any further would be to ruin what an is an amazing film that will leave you thinking after its conclusion.

A very different kinda love story. I've never seen the trailer so i really wasn't expectin that there's a lil supernatural involved. But imo, i thought that they could've worked on "it" a lil more to spice up the plot as she IS the main focus of the show... all in all it's pretty good, worth a watch :)

A bit rough at the beginning with lots of unnecessary characters. But I stuck with it and enjoyed myself.

Delightfully unique, Spring is a romance first horror with a lot of heart and a one-of-kind premise. The blend of the genres sounds initially unworkable, but once the themes and message show through, it all really clicks into place. The chemistry between the leads is palpable, even if the script fails them from time to time. Much to muse on, but of all the Moorhead and Benson movies I’ve seen, I think this was my favourite of the bunch. Step away from Lovecraft more often please guys, I much prefer this kind of movie and premise.

The guy leaves the world that gave him a strong kick and flies to Italy, where in a town by the sea he meets the girl of his dreams. When such a woman enters your life, she can completely take it away. Nothing will be the same, and you yourself. Now imagine that she is a Creature. In the Lovecraftian sense

This is by far my favorite movie by Benson and Moorhead. They make good movies, but man sometimes they can really drag a movie out longer than it needs to be. Although their movies are meant to be slow burns, this one had a good pace to it, and the love affair that happens between the two characters, really sucks you in and catches your heart. This movie had a beautiful ending. This one will definitely be up towards the top with all my other favorites.

Valentine's Day treat from Moorhead & Benson, my favorite from theirs exceeding Resolution by not much. Spring is a beautiful romantic comedy turned creature feature exploring themes such as grief, escapism and commitment. It's greatest attribute is the love story, it feels sincere and it blends in perfectly with the horror aspect, takes getting to know someone and their secrets for the first time to a whole other level. Apart from it's mystery, it relies heavily on it's characters and dialogue to keep you engaged. It has so much dialogue that sometimes it does lead to it feeling cringey. I found it got a little repetitive after around an hour, some of it could of been cut out but then you'd reduce the romantic aspect. Nicely done creature effects and design, charming setting and good performances from the two leads.

The lore and set of rules layed out in the last thirds was a welcome addiction even though it's a major exposition dump. Might be a turn off for some but it went into full sci-fi territory and that's a turn on for me. A flawed movie that's for sure but it was full of heart.

A beautiful and unusual story about true love.

So, I just updated my favourite movie of all time. I know, crazy. But I don't ask for much and this movie felt just right that I can't deny that's how I feel about it. My top 5 have been re-rewritten having 10 years of loyalty to it. Don't care what anyone says, this was just the warmth I needed and probably will need to come back someday.

I’m not really sure what I think of this film, it was interesting, but slow.

Not really horror, it’s more a romance, with an element of horror or sci-fi.

I found it difficult to watch due to how slow it was, but I was intrigued.

It was okay.

I’m not really in to romance films and I suppose this is basically what it was. The moral is; if you love someone or something as in this film, love conquers all, warts and all lol.

Curious and slow, the relationship between her and her is special, the explanation of it has no feet or head, for that you do not say anything

This turned out to be surprisingly good. The few special effects are very nicely done. The concept is quite nice. Overall a good watch.
