Not bad. It doesn’t feel like a low budget film at all. Very well shot.
Liked the movie. But the ending killed it for me. Could have been much better. Still a good watch though
Karate Kid with vampires.
Slow as a walking dead. Poor
Good movie, right up to the ending that really sucked :(
Pretty good. I liked the vampires, and the idea of it being a disease was cool. However, there were some big annoying plot holes, and the ending was a real letdown.
Everything wrong with this movie:
-It takes itself too seriously. The introspective narrative voice, the coming of age drama, the constant references to religion are shallow.
These things are not enough to make a "The Road" with a vampiric background
-The plot and the world in which the film is set are full of inconsistencies. At the beginning, the narrator tells us that the situation is desperate and those who have decided to stay together in cities and villages have not survived. A little later they enter a fairly populated city where everyone gets along well and there are also enough resources for everyone...
The protagonist tells us that, however, he doesn't want to stay because his destiny is the street and vampire hunting... later on in the film they load up their car with all kinds of people (a nun, pregnant women, a man that could have been bitten by a vampire, who could slow them down and hamper them in their hunt for vampires) to go towards New Heaven which is supposed to symbolize a return in the civilized world...
-Vampires in this movie are retarded zombies. At one point a character is left alone at night without weapons in the midst of a herd of 6-7 vampires, he comes out unharmed (we don't know how since the director doesn't show us anything) . Also the scene of the vampire trap with a bloody teddy bear is hilarious.
-The main villains of this film are a clichè group of religious fanatics that have no purpose at all except create chaos, rape nuns and kill the protagonist of the film.
-The final fight is ridiculous, an highlight of the film solved in 2 minutes.
In summary this is a zombie movie without what that makes zombie movies great (the desperate fight for resources and survival, the collapse of trust between people, the selfishness of humankind in desperate situations, the fear that anyone could have been bitten and turn to a zombie/vampire at any moment, the presence of an ubiquitous fearful and implacable enemy etc..)
Catching up before it's leaving Shudder. Stake Land follows a rogue zombie-vampire hunter who mentors a young boy in post-apocalyptic America. It's alright but still one of the better character driven post-apocalyptic zombie films I've seen. It's not what I was expecting, it's very serious, dramatic, and sometimes too slow. The production design and world building are impressive for the budget level. You also got some nice amount of gore and cool fighting action sequences. The 'vamps' look exactly like zombies but with fangs. I'm still unsure if I like the characters or not. They're at times boring and don't really seem to commit. Something that really bothers me regarding this film is the voice-over and over dramatic score playing every goddamn second telling me what to feel and think.
In a land where vampires look a lot like zombies, a man and his pet teen go on a road trip to do good with hearts of gold and stakes of wood.
The story never tries to get out of the box but the strong directing and solid acting elevate this above the level of cliché indie horror. #recommend
Great movie, maybe a true reality of post-apocalyptic.
Convincing take on the post-apocalyptic genre with zombie-like vampires. Score: 8/10.
Great premise for a movie but it was done poorly. And I agree the ending is lame.
5/10
a dramatic version of Zombieland that almost had what it took to grab me...but didn´t.

I expected low budget crap but it's not. The mister character reminded me of a classic 80's horror character. His character and the action together feel like something from a comic book at times. At other times during fights are played for the reality of the situation. The effects were good for the budget. The makeup was really good.
The post apocalyptic landscape creates the right atmosphere for this vampire movie. The story telling is balanced well.
